2020 Quarterback Competition

It won’t matter who the QB is if some other things, primarily offensive playcalling, don’t improve. We hear a lot about no fear of failure but the offensive playcalling reeks of it. I like Frost but he has been outcoached numerous times by coaches we would never consider hiring. His love affair with 2AM was baffling this season.

The crazy thing is it seems like the playcalling with Luke is actually night and day. Luke is great at running any kind of option or play where he can pass/run, QB draw. Those are the bread and butter. 

 
Best case scenario imo..

AM transfers and finds a system that is better for him.

Luke becomes the starter with Smothers waiting to take the reigns.

Maybe have Mckenzie Milton transfer to help the QB room somehow?

If AM continues to be the starter could Luke transfer?

 
I think Luke will be the starter.  The offense seems way more dynamic with him in there.  The “he doesn’t know the playbook/ too young to play significant time” stuff is up.  All the momentum is with him.  Martinez has a poor record with several games over the last 2 seasons.

That’s what is baffling. It’s painfully obvious to everyone except apparently Frost. I could understand sticking with 2AM earlier this season based on what he displayed last year. But how many games has it been since everyone could see this years version was not in the same ballpark as last year’s. IMO one of the worst things a coach can do is show loyalty when it is not being earned.

 
After Luke led us to a TD, anyone with a brain figures he comes back in a rides the momentum.  Nope, Mr. Ego Scotty Frosty, could never be wrong so deer in the headlights Martinez comes back in to again lead us to defeat.  The very audible collective groan of the stadium when #2 came back in said it all.

I agree. At least let Luke try again on another drive and if he struggles then go back to Martinez. It made no sense to take Luke out after that play.

Luke entered in the middle of that drive and ran, what, two plays?  Threw a nice ball for sure.  Immediately after that, Mr Deer in the Headlights engineered a 13 play 60 yard touchdown drive including a clutch throw to Kade Warner on 4th and 6.  But by all means, carry on.

Warner was wide open and he almost waited too long, but I guess that’s clutch nowadays.

Yes, mr deer in the headlights ran out of bounds on 2nd down, saving IA a timeout when they had 1 left.  Overtime taken away on that very play.  A Mart is not a leader, played lost again.
