It took less than 24 hours for some a$$ bag to try to trigger the libs.

Look at this sad sack.

I will admit something here. When Kapernick first took a knee it didn’t terribly bother me but I thought it was mostly a publicity stunt and that it was a little disrespectful. Well, I totally get it now. Things have to change and our flag, our country do not deserve any respect until everyone can go about their lives being treated equally and without fear that the color of their skin could endanger their lives at the hands of those who are supposed to protect and serve all of us.

I fully appreciate the sacrifices so many in the military have made but this isn’t about them. At. All. I really haven’t felt very patriotic for at least the last 2-3 years. But that is more because of the clown in the WH and the rest of the clowns that are supposed to be representing us. Our government is out of control and our police system is out of control. I want to see BLM and I want our police to undergo significant change. And then I hope that change continues into our government, how people are elected, the sickening way that money and power buys favor and access, the way senators and representatives basically end up as untouchables and royalty but mostly the character of the people who represent us. There’s a bunch of sh#t that needs to change in this country before I will give the flag or anthem any respect again. And I will repeat, that in no way is a slight to the brave men and women of the military. If anything, it is in honor of their sacrifice.
TBH I still think it was a stunt, but it did spark a conversation which ended up revealing a lot of people's true colors.

I wonder if he made more money or less money, in the long run, by doing it.  I don't remember if he had a huge NFL deal or not.

More. Easily, after the Nike deal.... Pretty good deal for Kap. Get paid millions to do nothing, and have people mythologize how good of a QB you actually were. Pretty good deal.

Just out of curiosity what made you think "I should change my avatar to Brees today, that sounds like something good to do"?

I don't disagree, but you knew it would be pretty controversial right?

I've only seen one sorrowful, guilt-filled, old white guy take issue with it. Should it be controversial? Drew Brees seemed like the least controversial person alive 48 hrs ago.

I thought he was getting unfairly dragged, so I thought I'd show him a little support. Nothing Brees has ever done, or said suggests he is a bad person.

No one on Huskerboard had even mentioned him let alone "unfairly dragged" him. On top of that you haven't said anything that I've seen the past week to support any of the obvious choices. That's why it looks trolly.

Aside from the fact that he'd only posted on the site maybe three times in the month prior to suddenly deciding to change his avatar and post a status on the front page.

But no, not trolly.  Not trolly at all.

I like Drew. Always have. What he said was pretty dumb though given the current climate. He's setting himself back 4 years and showing that he doesn't really seem to understand what's going on. People make mistakes, he'll probably realize that what he said was a mistake.

FWIW I didn't even see the status, only Knap's complaint.
