The Village of the "Banned"

I find it ironic and a bit humorous that some of those complaining about Roxy in this thread are far more douchey than the little old lady posting recipes.   (I am NOT talking bout you, JJ.  I thought your skydiving post was funny and harmless.)  /jmho
Ha...this is pretty much always the case.

I can't remember which long winded poster it was from a few years back but he/she basically wanted every banned for "trolling".  All the guy/girl did was try to annoy people.

True.

But, unless I'm mistaken, you've also championed the "we shouldn't ban people" cause for some time. You have a very laissez faire perspective on board moderation. That said, I respect the consistency. Most everyone else only dislikes moderation when it is applied to them. You, at least, tend to apply the perspective equally.

JJ and I are cool. Sometimes he gets wiley and we just need to satiate his appetite for discord and conflict. I think people should pick fights with him in the Shed more often and then he'd probably be a lot happier  .
This is true. A little discord definitely livens things up. Guess I've been a bit bored lately.

"People who disagree with me are douchy" is one way to live your life.
Not so much.  But it is douchtastic when people quote a snippet from a post out of context, and then build an argument against that out-of-context snippet in an effort to make themselves look good.  It wasn't you that I'm referring to.  That's not your style.  Although in the past you've achieved quite lofty levels of douchitude.  And I'm not talking about your recent exploits as the self appointed Grand Poobah of Libtard Nation.

I thought it was funny and harmless as well. That's why I called out the entirely unneeded and overzealous mod action.

Guilty admission. I actually appreciate many of Roxy's recipe posts. I just wish they didn't come in clumps and were better organized and titled. I could do without the fleeting thought one post wonders however.

Speaking of building an argument, perhaps you should provide more details about whatever particular situation you are talking about, and then defend said argument. You seem to be passive aggressively referring to a specific issue but are afraid to talk about it.

Dude, you arrive at some highly questionable conclusions all on your own. People  take them completely in context, and ask you to do a better job of articulating what you're really trying to say. You tend to double down and make it worse. Then accuse douchebag libtards of taking snippets in order to make themselves look good. That suggests you spend virtually no time reflecting on what people are telling you in a spirited debate. Too often you are verifiably wrong, and being a pissy snowflake about it.

@NUanceAnd please don't use the word "douche" as a modifier or "-tard" as anything.

Sorry I didn't get back to you on your schedule.  I actually have a life outside of this board.

Specifically, I was talking about you.  In the LeGrone thread I said:

It looks like an issue that could possibly decide this case is that the victim didn't say "no".  I'm not sure how I feel about this.  I think LeGrone is a slimebag, and probably a sexual predator.  I'm glad he got booted off the team and left UNL.  OTOH, if the girl is going to claim rape it seems like she should have said "no" at some point.

I posted this to point out the issue that  I thought might end up deciding the case.   (And, as it turns out, probably did decide the case.)  But you chose to cherry pick that last sentence out of context, deleting the rest of my post in your quote:

OTOH, if the girl is going to claim rape it seems like she should have said "no" at some point.

Then it appears that you start to adopt the holier than thou attitude that a woman must say "yes" in order for it to be consensual.  That's fine and nice for you to hold that opinion.  Perhaps you should lobby the Nebraska legislature to change the law to that.

=============================================================

Maybe I was overly sensitive to having a snippet of my post taken out of context.  I was just trying to point out what issue the case might hinge on.  I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Yeah, you are right.  I don't speak that way in person.  I won't use the word "tard" again.  It's quite offensive.  I just said that to get a rise out of a particular poster who I've had problems with in the past.  I may continue to occasionally use the word "douche" though.  But only when it's clearly applicable.

But you have to admit, the "Grand Poobah of Libtard Nation" is pretty funny--despite being over-the-top offensive.   Since it's so terribly offensive (it really is!) I will abbreviate it to Poobah in the future in the event it must be used.
