You're arguing a point I didn't make.
Burrow was not a "legit NFL first rounder" heading into his junior season at LSU. He was a talented but relatively unknown commodity.

Or just let Joe Burrow graduate and watch LSU score 16 fewer points a game on the way to a 5-5 season and out of contention for everything.
Some quarterbacks are pretty special.

Not what I said NO ONE said he would have won the Heisman here.
He was however good enough to do it at LSU and the NFL people liked what they saw well enough to draft him first and pay him a s#!tload.. He is and was very talented. TALENT that we should have been able to see- especially when he was begging to come here.
TO think that Joe couldnt have helped us win 4 of those 10 one score games- is just silly. Just take away all of Adrians fumbles- we win several of those

It doesnt matter- he wanted to come here. We should have people on our staff that are good at evaling QBs right? Supposedly our guy is some kind of savant guru. Yet a player that won the Heisman and was first round draft choice didnt show any of those qualities prior to attending LSU? Yeah right

No way- he stunk. He couldnt have gotten us wins in ANY of those 10 one score games. Good QB play is over rated.
It never wins teams any games- that's why they get paid so poorly in the NFL. Blame it on Pelini or some other nonsense excuse.
Anybody watch Joe play go through his progressions and make a pinpoint accurate throw? He didnt become like that overnight.
But he was amazingly that good and YES he would have won us 5-6 more games.

It absolutely matters because they're arguments that you're trying to make. First, it mattered what he did at LSU, but then it didn't matter because he just 'wanted to come here?'
I don't necessarily disagree that Burrow wouldn't have done well here and helped us win more games, but it's also not an argument worth dying on a hill over.
At tOSU, Burrow played in 10 games, completed 29 of 39 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns. He lost a starting job to Dwayne Haskins.
He is/was a talented kid but nothing about what he did at tOSU screamed "he'll help us win 10 games at Nebraska."

Losing out to Haskins or Fields at OSU is an entirely different level than we have here. We arent in the same galaxy as those guys. Burrow was Solid citizen, hard worker, our staff should be good enough at evaling QBs to recognize the talent.
Frosts arrogant "is he better than we got" bit him in the rear- yes he was MUCH better than what we had.

I never said it was. I'm arguing against the specific points you're making, and that's twice now you've effectively shifted the goal posts to avoid addressing the contradictions.
Your opinion is almost entirely based on hindsight and revisionist history. Rewind to the time frame that all of this was going down and the situation was much less black and white than you're attempting to make it out to be.
Yeah, in hindsight, maybe not getting Burrow was a mistake for Nebraska. It wasn't that clear at the time and that's as far as we should reasonably go. Passionately speculating how many more wins or less turnovers it would've resulted in is an exercise in futility that's worth nowhere near the amount of consternation it's creating.

The ENTIRE thought process is NU has consistently made poor decisions on evaluating QBs and developing QBs. Their decision making has been poor at best and shouldn't be trusted now.
Empirically where have any of our QBs shown improvement? Luke- no one wanted him.
When someone is number 2 on an insanely talented team AND he wants to play for you- you evaluate him correctly. Joe didn't develop all those skills overnight- he had a bunch of them before he transferred.

For every Joe Burrow transfer success story, there are 100 non-success stories, and at the time there wasn't much on paper to give Joe Burrow an objectively substantial advantage over AM. There was a small but vocal minority who were critical of Nebraska's coaching staff at the time for passing on Burrow. It wasn't until Burrow's success at LSU that this whole thing even became a talking point again, which makes it hard to take seriously.
Nebraska went through their evaluation process and chose to stick with AM. It's a judgement call and it is what it is. The only thing you can do in sports is hope to get those calls right more often than you get them wrong. Frost will either get more right than wrong and keep his job, or the latter will happen. Either way, seems like you'll be happy.

I like to think of this as controlled chaos. Delete/lock the thread and somebody else will inevitably start a new one that dives down the same rabbit hole. At least now all the skullduggery is kept a bit more isolated and controlled.

There are lots of people that know very little about the game. Its embarrassing what some people say in our section> Its darned right hilarious when they start pretending like they know the rules when there is a rules issue on the field. Pass interference is awesome.
If you have some guru QB whisperer- part of his deal is evaluating talent. He obviously screwed the pooch on that one.
LSU a MUCH better program than NU even then- got Joe. So LSU was able to eval him correctly- 10 win season right out of the gate. Nebraska chose to pass.
