True. And those changes SHOULD HAVE been made after 2002.
I'm just saying... TO didn't want Byrne to bring in someone outside who would clean house completely - which I respect.

There are a lot of what's ifs with the great Tom Osborne. He has admitted he regrets leaving. Wish he didn't. Bill Byrne let him name his successor. Wish he didn't.
The claims he didn't want to deal with scholarship limits or the Big XII have been around about as long as he's been gone. Who knows? His 96 recruiting class was outstanding. If he didn't retire how would the 1997 and following classes have been?

Agree. to many what ifs. I'm just tired of everyone thing T.O. would come in and wave his magic wand and everything would be all perfect. the past is what it is. We need to figure out our future and I really don't believe T.O. or former players as coaches are are part of the fix.

Has anyone ever thought that maybe, just maybe, the reason Solich had to fire some of TO's old hands was because they were jealous they didn't get the head job? When a staff is together that long, I'm sure there are some that thought maybe they should have gotten the call. We wouldn't even be having this conversation if Pudnocker would have given Solich's new assistants a chance.

At this point you should be dead and out of your misery,, if not,,,, TO would never say he was God. If he was anything he was one humble man. As for Callahan he is no Tom Osbourne, he's not even a Frank Solich. Tom built a great legacy and set a lot of records, Callahan is helping erase those records.

I understand HuskerNco's point. T.O. Is not coming back as a coach, the frustration that has engulfed Husker nation brings up a lot of topics and as much as I love our past and respect what T.O. accomplished and as much as I wish he had never left, the cold hard fact is we are where we are and we need to figure out what our future is going to be and not live to much in the past.
It is like spilled milk, once it is spilled there is not much you can do except clean up the mess and remember not to spill the milk again.

Now it is T.O. fault? What a joke. People have to blame others and look for excuses.
Pederson and Callahan ruined this program. Not T.O. and not Frank Solich.
Who in their right mind fires a 10-3 Coach? Did you realy think a good Coach would want to come in to a situation where they just fired a Coach that went 10-3, played for a National Championship 2 years earlier and had won 75% of his games? The only Coach even remotely interested was a 1 year wonder NFL reject with 2 years Head Coaching experience. The timing was bad and anyone with a little common sence knew it.
