I actually try to give people an extremely long leash if they take issue with me. And I have been known to include some level of snark in some of my replies. I'm not without character flaws.
But this was his seventh warning in just over three months, not all from me. Third one this month. He had taken to childish name-calling pretty often explicit trolling and general annoyance. He had been specifically warned about trolling and how he was going about "discussion". That led to a lengthy PM exchange with me where he was literally name-calling in every message.
But he had actually been (marginally) better for the last week or two. Still annoying but not nearly as abrasive. But it had been decided (not solely by me) that he had been given more than enough chances so he was on his final one. And it was probably just a matter of time.

He was amusingly pompous and sometimes wrong. But he was right about as often as the people who banned him. And more than entitled to his opinion. Unless I'm missing something. Seven warnings from the guy who disagreed with his assessment of the team isn't really mitigating.
We've been through this before. Pompous windbags are the lifeblood of the internet, and poking them is half the fun.
Ignoring them is an incredibly simple option, too.
A trip back through the threads shows a lot livelier HuskerBoard with a lot more active posters. Many of the Banned don't come remotely close to the a$$h@!es who make other sites toxic. Some were the funniest posters we had.
But "yay". I guess.
Now do I wish I'd never have to read BigRedN pontificate about games he didn't watch and a Christianity he misrepresents? No. I can handle it myself, thanks.

Yeah. That's kinda the point.
The bar for banishment here is pretty low. Really low for a sports fansite, imho. And, uhm.....not exactly consistent.
Another low hurdle is calling douchebags out. Rolling your eyes. Laughing in their face. Or putting them on ignore.
Or banish them because they got under your skin. Whatever.
I say sack the f#&% up and let 'er fly.
I'm aware this might be a minority opinion.

I agree with you more than you may realize. But I’m also not going to lose any sleep when insufferable jerks get banned either. I can’t name one that wasn’t given plenty of opportunity to mend their ways….at least not since Eric quit dishing out punishments anyway.
