I understand your point now.If we finish 6-6 and make a bowl game, I do agree that many fans will view that as a step forward from the past 5-7 seasons. I guess I am not expecting us to beat Purdue, Iowa and Wisconsin thus putting us at 5-7 again (or worse). In that case, this is where I think the score differential vs OSU becomes important. If we lose badly and look like we do not belong in that game in Year 4 of the Frost tenure, I think that will really take away from the "being close" narrative that some are pushing.
My thought on the problem is it hasn't been how we have performed against the elite teams but rather the losing to lower level teams. Nebraska has been losing to elite teams for 20 years so we are kind of used to it. It's the losing to the Illinois/Minnesota/Purdues of the world that has got everyone riled up. We need to figure out how to beat 3 teams remaining on our schedule that, on paper, we should be better than.
