Media Bias

1/3 of editorial board resigns....cancelled subscriptions. Its a progrssive hissy fit.

It's an appropriate fit. There's been a lot of chilling developments lately, but having the billionaire owners of two major newspapers unexpectedly capitulate to Trump against their own journalists is a terrible sign for the future. LA Times made the same move.

Some will take a lot of glee in this. I get that. But if this is the beginning of a lot of fear-based decisions, it's not gonna work out well for anybody.

It’s sooo crazy this year that we have no idea who LA Times and WAPO would have endorsed for President.

Newspaper endorsement are stupid anyways.   I would much rather them just do a side by side comparison of where each candidate sits on the top 10 relevant issues and say “here you go readers,  is it’s time for you to make up up your mind”.

This protest and story (assuming it is covered well) could actually be better for Harris.  This is a bunch of people that gave up their positions in protest so that they could support Harris.  That is a big deal.

Washington Post has made an endorsement for president in every election since 1976, and this would be the easiest one to make for a neutral newspaper. Best case scenario is that Bezos is a limp sack of s#!t.

But it's more likely corruption.

Amazon and the space exploration company Blue Origin are among Bezos-owned businesses that still compete for lucrative federal government contracts.

Friday’s announcement did not mention Amazon or Blue Origin. But within hours, high-ranking officials of the latter company briefly met with Trump after a campaign speech in Austin, Texas, as the Republican nominee seeks a second presidency.

Trump met with the Blue Origin chief executive officer, David Limp, and vice-president of government relations, Megan Mitchell, the Associated Press reported.

Anyone gonna stop using Amazon now?

From now on just Temu!!!

I stopped using Amazon a few years ago. Didn't really care for Bezos' business model and worker treatment.

At first I thought it required a sacrifice of price and convenience, but most often you can go directly to the retailer website and it works just fine at or near the same cost, sometimes even cheaper.

I thought I was the only person in the America that did not have Amazon Prime.  People look at me like I live in a cave when they find out.

I don’t order very much at all through Amazon, but the significant other does quite a bit.   I prefer to go into a store to buy something unless it’s a product that is just too hard to find.  Plus you can buy local when it’s an option.

I do however use the streaming service a decent amount.

Oh your sarcasm came through fine.

The question was never who the WaPo and LA Times editorial boards would endorse, it's why they suddenly weren't allowed to.

Pretty newsworthy, actually.
Do you think that newspapers should endorse and don’t like that they do?   I would prefer they just lay out the positions of each candidate in an easy to read format for the readers and let the readers decide.
