Media Bias

And if one person does 99 terrible things and one person does one kinda crappy thing, you shouldn't give 50% of your negative coverage to each person.
Journalism is the pursuit of truth, no matter whose political fortunes it affects. The moment you decide to shield one side for the sake of convenience or narrative, you've stepped off the path of reporting and into the arms of propaganda.

On the flip side—If you're expecting media outlets to serve up only comforting affirmations about your chosen political team, you're not looking for journalism. You’re seeking indoctrination, carefully packaged as information but as hollow as an infomercial.

So report factually about the 99 things, and also about the 1 thing. It isn't hard.

Agree. But typically the people whining want there to be as much negative coverage on Trump's opponent as on him even when that would require extremely biased coverage because none of his opponents have done even 10% as many s#!tty things as he has.

True.  Though I think the super vast majority of folks asking for journalist to do actual journalism outweigh the whiners Moraine thinks the world is.

The super vast majority of folks would include a massive portion of the most popular cable news channel (Fox News) viewership, who are spoonfed and regurgitate a paradigm in which mainstream = anything not explicitly activisticly supporting the GOP = liberal.

They would include those people except that the mainstream press = the traditional media that folks like you hype up to be super non partisan yet don’t actually do the super non partisan journalism thing.    Traditional media like CBS NEWS, WAPO, NYT, NBC NEWS…

Hopefully this clears the air about media bias, but the simple fact that Trump isn't introduced as Donald "Convicted Felon, Adjudicated Rapist, Defamed his Victim and attempted a coup" J. Trump by every media organization should be enough to tell you who they're biased for.
I feel like that would shoot their ratings through the roof.  Trump lovers and haters would go wild tuning in.

No, it would be seen as being biased in favor of Democrats and half their audience would boycott them.

Thus, they have to sane-wash Trump so that way the morons who support him don't get offended if you accurately point out the kind of s#!tty person Trump is.

No they would not.  When people "hate" something or are looking to get offended by something, they tune in more.

Howard Stern proved it over and over.

Look at us with the "Oh my god, I don't even watch ESPN anymore" bit...then when they say something good about the Huskers it gets views...when they say something bad about the Huskers it gets INSANE views.

It is why Metal gods back in the 70's and 80's made sure to sort of insult religion.  Because they knew that would bring in faith-nuts to buy (and burn) their stuff and get even more publicity.

The idea that people that are "mad" at something means they won't buy or tune in is just flat out wrong.  The most powerful consumer is someone who hates what you say and can't wait to tell all their friends about how horrible "you" are because of what you said.

I disagree, I don't think conservatives are hate watching MSNBC or liberals are tuning into Fox News to see them trash their political views. Those news outlets aren't exactly lining up to hire Pulitzer prize winning journalists either.

Just look at it in micro terms.  You hate Archy's posts, yet you don't put him on ignore (I actually don't know if that is a feature) and you reply to pretty much all his posts.

It is how we are wired.  Now, NORMAL people don't hate watch because they are doing normal things.  But people that are super into the topic, no matter what it is, sports, politics...they hate watch.

I hate Iowa FB but you better believe I flipped over to watch the last 5 minutes of them losing to ISU.
