USC game. What did we learn

What has Dylan done so far for him to return?  Like I mentioned yesterday, no one was butt hurt when he didn't sign with Ohio St and Georgia.  This school was used by one of its own to get his kid on a campus.  There is a reason the guy played for 4 different High schools...........and he won't remain on this campus his entire career either.

Go find a HC who wants this job, if for no other reason than to prove to himself and others they can coach.  We keep hiring left overs from the past. Go hire the next who wants this job, not us offering money to get them to have interest in coming here.  The last few guys hired we went after, they didn't come to us and say they wanted this job.  Even Frost, he was approached and offered the job, he didn't come after it.  Riley didn't come after it, Rhule didn't care until Alberts offered money and contracts.
Do you honestly think Dylan was the one wanting to transfer  to 3 different HS?

rhule can't make dowdwell break a tackle
I'd like to see a YAC stat for our RB's.  For the most part they get tripped up by the hash markers.  Hard to commit to a running game when in year 2 we still have backs with the inability to separate themselves.  I've tried to block out Frost's seasons, but IIRC we RB'd by committee as well.....Gotta get a dude back there.

Dowdell is averaging 4.3 yards per attempt.  2.78 yards after contact per attempt.

E Johnson is averaging 5.0 yards per attempt.  3.10 yards after contact per attempt.

I do give Holgorsen credit for seeming to figure out that we needed to play EJohnson more.  He got 17 touches to Dowdell's 10.  I think a lot of Dowdell's touches were in the first quarter.

Awesome.  Most appreciated.  Sad that most fans were saying EJ was the better back and stats show it, but took a new set of eyes and 2 weeks to make the switch.

IDK?  Why did he transfer so many times?  Why did he de-commit from two elite programs?  Why did he really choose Nebraska?  I will answer the last question:  We were the only desperate team to promise him a starting role.  Uncle Donovan might not have had a job otherwise either.

The state of college football is moving in light speed away from us and most schools like us.  This game is about the SEC and a few other schools right now.  I don't know what matters if we go 6-6 or 8-4 at this point.  Sure we get a bowl game, and that would be nice, but were so far on the outside looking in its not even funny.  We either need to aim high and go get a 5 star coach and staff or settle for the money of the Big 10 and follow our nationally ranked volleyball team.

Use our NIL and get relevant once again is the best and only option in my opinion.  If that takes getting a better coach/salesman then lets get it done.

New recruiting strategy. NO, ZERO, ZILCH, nil money up front. You only come here if you’re HUNGRY.  There will be positional metrics you need to meet. 7 sacks if you’re and edge rusher, 8 TD if you’re our #1 wr, etc. You hit those marks, we double what your estimate nil preseason. You get injured bad, we fix you and you get 1/2 your nil estimate.

That is a terrible idea.

We didn't play like a team that was a 9.5 underdog on the road.  No 4th down attempts and no trick plays.  They threw up some 50-50 balls that worked.  We didn't as I would not call Dylan's horrible 1st pick as a 50-50 ball.  We beat Colorado because we took chances that worked.
Starting to think we beat Colorado because they hadn't gelled to the point they're at now.

Right now I wouldn't put money on us, neutral site, "pick em."

Next week, we have two teams with a 5-5 record trying to get bowl eligible. Guess which team will come on top. If history taught us something, that would NOT be us. Rhule and this team will find a way to choke and lose. We will then go to our De facto bowl game over the past eight years, which has been the game against Iowa, and we will get our a$$es kicked by Iowa. Then someone will restarted the famous “is Iowa a Rival” topic. At this point, we have no rivals. We are a punch bag and a sad story you tell teams who want a morale boost “at least you are not Nebraska”.

What have you seen in Raiola that inspires confidence? Curious to know. To me he is average at best. At least from what have seen in 10 games.
I'll say this.  In the 1st few games, I had not seen a true fresh QB move in the pocket like he did.  Then teams figured him out and here we are.  I always felt he played with no sense of urgency and threw the ball "soft".  @CornbredI believe used the term "lazy".  I like that better.  He holds the ball for what he wants and not what he has.  Misses open guys and has thrown a hella lot of INT's.  Granted against better competition, but for me the eye ball test doesn't see that "it" factor.  That DUDE, who by word and more importantly deeds, rallies the troops.  5+ doesn't always equate to intangibles.

Completely agree. I just don’t see Raiola as a leader and I just don’t think he has the respect of his teammates. Contrast him to Illinois’ QB who is vocal and leads his teammates and fires them up. I am hoping he will develop with time but I have not seen any areas of improvement from him. In general, for a guy known to develop players, Rhule has failed so far. Even guys like Bullock whose name came up so often early in the season, I have not seen him have any impact lately. We have not had any player shine as of late.
Personally, I don’t think Raiola will stay but I also do not think that would be a huge loss as he does not seem to play with any passion. Very passive and too lackadaisical for a team that Must get to a bowl game.

Rhule suffers from sphincter clutch
