Trump Voter Safe Space

1- I don’t think that applies to Teach, and that’s kinda nasty to insinuate.

2- Do you really think it was last second undecideds who swung it? I don’t get that impression or feeling at all. I think there are just that many people in this country that aren’t too sharp and didn’t have a clue. Low info, bad info, predisposed to racism or sexism or hating immigrants or a myriad of gender choices, Christians in name only and backwards hicks. I could be wrong but that’s all I’ve garnered so far.

I'm honestly not sure what to think, but the difference makers were not core MAGA voters. They were likely folks who had plenty of reservations about Trump but marginally greater concerns about Kamala Harris. I don't think they were undecided about who they would vote for as much as they were considering not voting at all. The last week of the campaign dialed up the urgency and made a Harris upset seem possible. I don't think the Democrats ever had enough enthusiasm, and Trump had a burst of momentum when it became clear that the media barons and tech giants had made a last-second flip to appease Trump. If you had no real dog in the social justice fight and were going strictly by business metrics, it seemed the smart money (and late betting) had moved towards Trump.

I mean that makes sense.

But I still don’t understand how people could be iffy, in the middle and unsure right up to the end. Seems like a very stark contrast to me, but then again I still haven’t figured why for most of the hardcore MAGA either. I guess I’m just a rare one that broke lose from the right (even though they left me in the dust by moving further right and I’ve stayed basically the same.)

Got it!

About 10 years ago we went to see Whitesnake at the Greeley Stampede. Skid Row was playing on the free stage the same night so stopped by after our concert and caught them playing 18 and Life.

Yeah that’s all we can get here, semi-relevant country singers and washed up rockers. We never go to the country concerts.

And yet not a single person wants to go on record in the HuskerBoard P&R Forum as voting for Donald Trump.

But I know you're out there (or in here) and I suspect some of our regular. posters haven't been entirely truthful about their vote. I really want to know whether what's been happening in the month since Inauguration is what you had in mind for a second Trump presidency. Figuring this out is the single most important thing in the world.

This is an example of a Trump voter who was tossed onto the hot stove without a second thought.

I think a lot of them know deep down Trump is a fraud but the modern GOP is a cult and the brainwashing runs deep.

I think more likely than any revelations or honest discussion here most Trump voters are going to just go real quiet and keep supporting him in silence as they notice things slowly getting worse and worse until they wake up one day and become this guy.
Pretty much, in politics voters never really admit they were wrong or duped. Instead, they're going to double and triple down - even if bad policy personally impacts them, like Trump voters who lost their jobs or businesses and still support him.

They're going to follow him off the cliff and learn the Soviet National Anthem before they accept reality. They're hopelessly gone.

Why should Trump voters be provided a safe space? They’re the ones responsible for this absolute s#!tshow. Personally, I think they should be publicly scourged and neutered.
They should be given a nice, safe space to roam around and cohabitate with their fellow MAGAs.

I’m thinking like a decent stretch into the business end of a fenced-in driving range.

If history is any indication, if I’m teeing off, they’d better have their jumping shoes on or their toes are in for a world of hurt.

It's ok board MAGA if you don't want to come out here just yet and admit you were wrong and contributed to the destruction of our constitutional order and international standing all because you were duped by a fat, narcissistic, orange make-up wearing, dyed blond with a bad comb-over who convinced you it was alright to heed your most dark secret biases held towards your fellow man.

Here's another safe space for you where you can get help in breaking free from the cult of personality.  This might be a place where you can rekindle what's left of your integrity and compassion.  Think of how cool that would be.  I'm sure there will be other manly men there to commiserate with.  Then, in time you can come back to this thread and post your mea culpa. We look forward to it. Most of us won't judge you, at least too harshly.

Go ahead.  You deserve it.  You deserve to be respected as someone who, though snowballed for the better part of a decade, finally broke out of your holding cell bubble built by Russian propaganda.  Your inner most divinity will thank you.

"Dear MAGA Americans,

I was a devoted member of MAGA nation for seven years; it made me feel I was part of something important: a movement that was trying to save American democracy.

But starting in 2021, I realized I had been mistaken. It took me a full year to finally break away. During that time, I came to understand that MAGA is sustained by a series of myths that are intended to create perpetual feelings of desperation and panic.

Succumbing to these predatory myths does not mean you are unintelligent, weak, or lack good character and morals. I have a Bachelor’s degree; have been a working professional my entire life; am a family man; and consider myself a relatively honest and intelligent person. I think the same about you.

I understand the reasons you have for supporting MAGA. And I know many of us traveled different paths to get there. I gravitated to Donald Trump because I have always been suspicious of our two-party system, and I saw him as the right man at the right time.

I have a sense that some of you have quietly left MAGA already, or are increasingly regretful, confused and scared. All of this can be doubly upsetting, since some of your sincerely-held beliefs may have alienated you from friends and family. That certainly happened to me.

It’s perfectly OK to feel this way; leaving MAGA was a tumultuous roller coaster of a process for me. It may be one of the most difficult endeavors you embark upon. In the end, it brought me an inner peace, and a newfound clarity about what is happening in our beloved country.

I founded this organization, Leaving MAGA, because I wanted to create a safe, non-judgmental community for those who leave MAGA, as well as for those who are having doubts about, or remorse over, their devotion to Trump and MAGA.

Our Leaving MAGA community will celebrate how acknowledging mistakes empowers you and America.

It’s difficult for a democracy to function well when millions are estranged from those closest to them.

You do not deserve to have your anxieties about change exploited. You deserve to know the truth. And with Leaving MAGA, you don’t have to feel you would be alone if you leave the movement.

Leaving MAGA is possible. Recognizing that we were wrong, and acting on that knowledge, makes us all more invested in democracy and in the continued work of perfecting our union."
