Big ten helmets

Ok, back to our favorite topic. I would like to get these helmets up on top. Articles are coming out from all over the big 10 mentioning NEbraska is unofficially in. When people search for Husker websites and message boards and they see the helmets it can be an instant connection, a friendly open minded board that embraces the Big 10 shift.

Let me know what I can do to help.

I posted about HuskerBoard on Rittenberg's blog over on ESPN. They didn't take it down, so hopefully we get some traffic.

I've also joined most of the Big Ten fansite forums, and I've been visiting infrequently, talking about HuskerBoard. Word of mouth is the best tool we have to drive traffic. And it's free.

OK, Mr. Eric. I just got PhotoShop a while ago. My skills are rusty, but I'll do what I can for you this weekend. You want them resized and integrated into the top of the screen, right?

I think so - I think split by divisions above the HuskerNation banner, with one division left-aligned and one right-aligned.

I think this is going to need a new <div> tag, and at the moment I'm working on something for the new video player. Zoogies, any chance you could take a crack at this? We can get a second Block set up just for it to make it easier to set up.

Sure, I'll take a look at it in a day or two. I don't have access to Blocks yet for some reason - can you look into that?

Sorry about that - apparently, I had to grant you IP.Content access in order for you to have Block access. I've also given you CSS and Template access as well. Let me know if that did the trick.

You might want to create a new Block - call it something like Top Helmets or Banner Helmets or some such. That way, all we have to do is insert the parse tag for the new block where we want it and it will leave the bottom strip unaffected.

Hey guys, sorry it took me a little bit to get this. Are we keeping the helmet pictures on the bottom? I operated under that assumption, and that the banner at the top was another way to spotlight the Big Ten. In that light, I felt that having links for each image would make it more like another navigation menu up there, and thought it was unnecessary.

So I took huskeraddict's image set and put them together into one image, as a simple display banner below the navigation. They're separated by division. It's up right now for the QB Test skin. I used addict's original image set rather than the more recent one he posted, since those were the same as the helmets on the bottom. I also think that if we want to use the helmets instead on an image that has two divisions split up, we should have half the helmets facing one right and the other half facing left.

I actually created several different versions, so I'll do a rundown here. Whichever one you guys like best - or combinations of different aspects of different ones - can be the one we port over to QB Live and QBL. Alternatively, we can go the Helmets route, as well. The parse block is {parse block="b1g_promo"}

1. Standard (same size) (with team logos toned down in saturation a bit)

2. Dissolved (currently on QB Test) (with team logos made smaller)

3. "Proud to be in the Big Ten" (I had some difficulty figuring out how to incorporate the text into the image, and this is one of the concepts I had.)

3a. Wisconsin was left without a letter in "Proud to be ...", so I couldn't quite settle on a replacement. Here's a paper plane arrow, to represent the transitioning/moving to element, if we don't want to be too "I <3 NY" t-shirt-ish.

3b. And here's an exclamation mark. A variety of other options here. Basically any symbol in any symbol font ever (the heart and plane were Webdings and Wingdings, respectively) would be easily implementable. Any other suggestions welcome.

4. Dissolved + text (my second thought, to add the text in the extra spaces)

5. "LEADER/LEGEND" (my most recent thought on the text issue. maybe when they get to 14 teams we can make each side plural ;) )
