lol ya it’s so unfair the SEC is so good they just beat each other up.
Sounds like the B1G and SEC are going to push for four guaranteed playoff spots when the field expands so that they can beef up their regular season schedules (more marquee matchups) so they can push for even more TV revenue. If they have four guaranteed spots, they don't have to worry as much about teams losing those big games.
Was he talking to this coach in the mirror?
I think maybe Lane and these other coaches might be stupid. I’ll believe there’s a universe where the 2nd place SEC team in the standings doesn’t get invited. I guess maybe if they have 3 losses but… still doubting that happens.
And I don’t like the idea of not figuring out on the field who the conference champion is.
Pretty simple for it to happen this year. A&M beats Texas, loses to Georgia in SEC Championship. Misses out of the playoffs (they'd have 4 losses).
Good point. So it’s easier than I thought. However… A&M is 4th in the standings and I’m not sure beating Texas would move them into 2nd. Texas isn’t a common opponent between them and Tennessee so I don’t think it helps them in their standing.
The expanded playoffs haven't even happened yet, so to early to say what the effects will be. I think it will diminish the regular season over time in terms of the importance of individual games since a single loss is almost meaningless. But it means more teams have a chance at winning it all, so who knows.eXpaNdEd PlAyOfFs RuIn ThE rEgUlAr SeAsOn
