2000 snow game vs k state

Are you talking about the '98 game? Because the video is of the '98 game. It did not snow. It did snow in 2000 towards the end. Our 2000 defense was average at best, and was the scapegoat in that one. '98? Kansas St. was the better team, and Nebraska played above our capabilities that day. The facemask? I dont put as much stock into that as most do. Even with the 15 yards, we still have to drive the length of the field with just minutes left. So many guarantee a win if that is called.

HOWEVER, what really, really aggrevates me is the glorification of that play. I'm sure numerous fans of theirs are only dissappointed in the fact that Crouch was not seriously injured, esp. after their Brook Berringer statements that appear on their message boards to this day. That was a big time for Kansas St. and they had a right to be proud. But in the long run, what did they accomplish? It took their best team ever to barely beat our worst team in that past 30 years.
You really think that was our worst team in 30 years? What about 02'? What about 04'? What about 07'?

I believe, if you read the bold, he was clearly saying that was the worst Husker team from the 30 years prior to that game.

I remember watching this game and thinking how bright the next 4 years would be......if only
I remember seeing it and laughing at the gaping mouths of the K-St. fans

Yea, they all got the T-Magic Shocker that night.

Even so, the 98' team wasn't that bad of a team. We were just really young that year. I would take the 98' team over the 90' team. In 98', we lost four games but to ranked opponents and the games were all pretty close. In 90', while only losing three games we lost pretty bad. We got beat by a decent margin at home by CU. Then, we got obliterated by OU. We finished the season getting smoked in the bowl game by Georgia Tech. In 98', we beat a couple of teams that were ranked at the time when we played. In 90', we didn't beat anyone that was ranked when we played.

Still got two more to go!
Touche. If what we're hearing about Martinez finally being healthy is true, we might see some more of this break-neck speed yet. I doubt we'll see anything like that K-State game again because teams now scheme against his speed, but even if he can just occasionally bust one out, it'd be a very welcome sight

Thank You. And that assessment, of course, is based almost solely on the fact that '98 was the first 4(+) loss team since 68(?). Yes, the 98 team was very young and if I recall had some injury issues as well. We never really did have a consistent starter at qb for any period of time. That Kansas St. loss also removed us from a conference championship chance, as well as division, with still a game to play. I dont think that had happened since who knows how long.

I hear ya. I have the feeling he will never be as fast as he was his freshman year for a number of factors, mainly the injuries and added weight, but I still think he will have that break away speed that we all love. Oddly enough the roster shows he's dropped 5lbs since his redshirt freshman year, but he clearly looks like he's added more muscle since then. I believe it was even stated last year that he had put on some bulk over the summer as well.

What I remember about the game is that defense gave up a huge 3rd down completion in the game that gave Kansas State huge momentum. Huskers were in control going into that play.

Ah, the 98 KSU game. The first time KSU ever beat us when I was alive. That Nebraska team wasn't the most talented of all time, just am in-experienced team all around.

K-State fans still don't see anything wrong with that play, and neither did the refs.

This was probably the most furious that I ever was watching sports in my childhood. 10-year-old tschu was absolutely irate.
:yeah

I was staying the night at a friends house. And after that play/game, we were so furious we were going to write a letter to the NCAA to over-turn the game, or call and re-start the game from that point or something.

Yup, two 11 year olds were going to get the NCAA to change that game and give us a fair shot on a restart..... :box

But hey, that's how much we love Husker football and how upset we were.

We wrote the letter, but I don't think we sent it off. We decided to just be pissed off the rest of the night while playing video games.

To this day I still bring this game up with my dad because we were going to drive down to Manhattan to go to that game. Sadly when I found two tickets for $70 each, my dad said forget about it. When Taylor broke out this run, I looked at my dad and said "You know we could have been there to witness that in person" as my dad was smiling while refusing to look at me as I was speaking to him.

I don't remember watching the game but I already know the Cats won because they were the better team. In fact they have always been the better team...better than anyone and everything, at least that's what they tell me here in Manhattan.
