2023 Season Notes

Freshmen in 2019 were Kenzie Knuckles, Emma Gabel, Nicole Drewnick, Fallon Stutheit and Riley Zuhn.  Pretty unremarkable other than Knuckles.  Drewnick and Stutheit only lasted one year.  Gabel and Zuhn lasted two.  I believe Knuckles didn't use her available COVID year and called it a career after last year.

Freshmen in 2020 (2021) were Anni Evans, Keonilei Akana, and Kalynn Meyer.  Anaka just beat us.  Meyer decided to do track.  Evans is now at San Diego.
Thanks for the research.

Agreed. Let's hope we pick up just as many as we lose.

Problem lays in who wants to ride the pine with 4 so. & 2 jr. starters. Portal players want to play

The other problem is this just gets us back under the scholarship limit with the incoming recruits. We were always going to need to lose 2 players, to add anyone else we'd need to lose another.

Not surprised at all with Kubic. You could see that coming, but Jurevicius is too bad. Rumor was that she hits about as hard as anyone on the team. Thought after her RS she would press for starting role.

Jurevicius sister is on the Lincoln Lutheran team.  Wonder if the family sticks around?

The only kinda awkward part about it for me is The Athletic just wrote an article 12 days ago about Jurevicius titled Caroline Jurevicius, daughter of former NFL receiver, ‘playing the long game’ with Nebraska volleyball. Which appears to no longer be the case.

It does sound like Cook/Reyes should have communicated better with her regarding her redshirt and the game in Memorial stadium. But realistically you don't agree to that article if you're already planning on leaving, so it is a little odd.

As much as I'd prefer they go to other schools as a fan, it's honestly pretty awesome for them that they have opportunities at other great programs. Not having enough room for all of the talented players is a good problem to have, so I hope they don't get much crap from our fanbase about their transfer choices.
