2024 Transfer Portal Ins/Outs

Well, last season we made a bowl game for the first time in years, while Wisconsin missed a bowl game for the first time in years, so...

Given how much attention Seagren received after hitting the portal it's hard not to wonder if Rhule's comments put him on other their radars.  That would be ironic

Eh, teams don't offer based on coaches public praise. They get practice film, and reach out directly to coaches to find out if they're a problem or what the deal is.

I wish we could have kept him, but there is something odd about the praise and number of offers he received versus the fact that he still wasn't being mentioned in the top group of tackles this Spring. Even with no Gottula, Prochazka, or Corcoran it didn't sound like he was contending for a role this year. I just don't know how to square the offers with things like Lutovsky (who was good last year, but at Guard) and Knaak appearing to be ahead of him. Have they improved that much? They wouldn't have started at Tackle for many of the teams offering Seagren. Or maybe just the other teams have a roster spot for a Tackle who needs another year or two and we don't? That would seem short-sighted to me, we have plenty of Guards we could live without but if a guy has a chance at being a P4 Tackle you want to keep him.

A few insiders said Seagren was pushing Pritchett for the LT spot. Not sure I buy that since that would make me think Seagren would have taken over at RT, if true. But that's what I heard.

If the coaches thought he'd be part of the 2-deep within the next two seasons, then stupid to not have found a way to keep him (unless he was asking for non-standard NIL for his role).
