2025 Season Notes

The bats are always behind when the season starts.  And sometimes it might be confidence or bad weather and always playing on the road a few weeks to start the year.

It's been the same thing ever since Bolt became the Manager (Coach/Skipper).

Even though I give a slight pass with starting out on the road a lot every year, Bolt's offense is pretty s#!tty year in and year out.  And relies on upperclassmen.  I am just hoping he figures it out.  Because his offense makes hitting a baseball seem impossible with aluminum bats and 3 star schollie players.  It's difficult, but sheesh it's not that hard.  I mean, runners in scoring position, put a swing on it and put it in play.  Day 1 stuff.

It feels like the last 3-4 years with Bolt and the Huskers.

1. Start on the road where the weather is warmer.  Not exactly a disadvantage.  It's still a baseball game.   But playing at home is more comforting, for sure.

2. Figure out the weekend starters, mid relief guys, and hopefully a closer.

3. The bats suck, and scoring runs is like pulling a few teeth.  When it's good at times, the lineup finally stays put.  But most of the time, Bolt shuffles the lineup like it's the pros, OR he is super smart and hoping he can find a lineup that works.  I hate this about his program the most.  There is no consistency, dependability or stability.  Which is key for a ball player at the moment he goes to sleep to the instant he wakes up.

You never want your batters to think....

"Three days ago I was hitting 2nd, Two days ago I was hitting 8th, yesterday I was benched, and today I am hitting 6th.  Whatever, I guess"

Now that the Huskers have dug themselves into a hole again - Meaning the losses are adding up and nothing shows that they are a team to win a B1G, host a regional, make it to Omaha (we are talking about September Goals, right?)..... the team will eventually figure it out by winning some and losing some.  In other words, same as last year and the years before.  The team that played in Arkansas was an anomaly.  And Bolt just isn't the manager to get it done.  Which sucks as a former Husker player turned Coach.

I always thought Bolt was the guy, but leaning your direction.  We need a good hitting coach.
