Been working on it for awhile. Invision is the issue. Has some old code hidden somewhere and it can't be found so far. Seriously considering migrating to Xenforo.

Just to be clear, you're saying Invision boards everywhere are suspect to these ad bombardments, and it's only an Invision issue.

He's saying Invision code is interfering with the ability to have an ad infested version of the site and a simultaneous paid, ad-free version.
Looking back, a subscription ad-free experience was promised as far back as September of 2019, as well as a constant tug-of-war between "this site is unusable", "we have a new agency and i will ask them to fix that", and "things aren't sustainable financially at this rate"
At this point, switching off Invision BBS might be the only glimmer of a hope that folks have towards a pleasant browsing experience, although it might also come with the loss of rep points and other staple features.
The functionality of the board is extremely awful. Worst experience of any site I visit on the web and it’s not really a close contest. If not for a few of the good posters that I interact with on P&R it’s not worth the headaches. And the headaches/bad user experience are beginning to outweigh the fun of interacting with other posters.
I gotta assume that posting traffic is what makes the ads more profitable and losing posters because of a continued crappy experience will end up making less posts which in turn makes less ad revenue. Though admitting I don’t know exactly how it all works. Just my assumption and my assumption that a better user experience would indeed drive more traffic and then more add revenue.

Still getting a complete screen takeover by Machete every two minutes.
I'm about to make it my life's work to put Machete out of business.

It's a coding issue that prevents us from offering the ads free option. If it doesn't get fixed soon I will consider the switch to Xenforo.

Just curious: how many HuskerBoard posters access the site on their laptops vs. their smartphones?
I always prefer using my laptop with its bigger screen and friendlier keyboard. I used to use my smartphone a bit, but the functionality was so bad I just waited till I got back to my laptop.
I do know that laptops and smartphones often have completely different issues. Wondering if anyone else gets this full screen Machete takeover.

I have submitted the URL to be blocked. Give it a day and clear out your history. As far as I know you are the only one getting this one.

I'm mostly laptop and for whatever reason I don't run into the issues other posters do and haven't seen the full page takeover stuff (not running an ad blocker or anything, either).

BigRedMax is replying to my comment that if we migrate to Xenforo everything resets, from a thread in P&R. Just pulling that back to the appropriate thread.
Maybe that's the best solution? Because the ads are just killing people right now.

I got fewer Machete screen takeovers yesterday. Keeping in mind that it blocks all interactions with my computer until I hit the small x in the upper right corner. Fewer interruptions I might live with, but it's the only ad I've ever seen that blocks your entire screen.
Just a couple Machete takeovers the first half hour I was on the board today. Then just now they started coming again in waves, sometimes just seconds apart, or whenever I touch my mouse.
I'm baffled that I'm the only one having this problem. Apple laptop. Chrome browser. No problem on other sites.
