Almost all offenses that are successful are "option" of sorts. The zone read and most spread offenses focus on one player that they leave unblocked to make an option of.
What NU ran most of the Beck era was option and I never heard many people wanting to implement that across the nation. Hell even iso football utilizes some option with WR motion and end arounds off of it at times.
Ultimately there are countless offenses that will work, including Riley's style, it just depends on what the coach likes most and what talent he can get to support it.
