Coaching Carousel - 2024-2025 Edition

Dude was just in over his head here.  Other rumored issues didn't help.  Glad he's gone.  Hope he can get it back together.

Will this impact money NU is paying Frost?

Absolutely wild he was able to land another job, but UCF will probably be good for him.

I can't wait to go read some UCF boards, because they were absolutely disgusted with him and talked about how much better Heupel was.

Pretty good hire for them.
Barry Odom got closer to the CFB playoffs at UNLV then he will ever get at Purdue.  For this him this has to be about money.  It sure isn't about winning.  Now, maybe I feel this way, because I used to follow UNLV cloesly in my 10 years living in Vegas?  But this isn't a good move for someone that just established winning at a tough place to win.  Easier at UNLV than at Purdue.  I would have waited for a better gig at a place that can win at a high level.  That isn't at Purdue FB.

Yeah, he is probably going to make triple?  I thought people said UNLV doesn't pay well.

I hear ya, it’s definitely a mercenary type of move. He made $1.75m at UNLV and Ryan Walters made $4.1m at Purdue.

If you hang around one year too long, lose a senior QB, lose a veteran or two defensively, and your team takes a step back record wise, then you are no longer a hot commodity on the coaching carousel. Purdue isn’t a very good job, but it’s not as bad as Walters made it look. I expect Odom will make them look competent next year and then solid the year after that, and he will be in line for another payday.

PU is a crap job BUT the bad seasons should be 3-4 wins and the good seasons, once a decade, are a 9 win season.

Walters, like you said, made it look horrible.  PU fans have almost no expectations, but they also don't want to be 1-11.
