Gotcha. I was just thinking the guy won't give up. At this point the SEC teams can leave for free, I think, and the revenue will be similar. It would boil down to the academic consortium and how much they hate Texas.@nic I found the tweet because I click on the original. The comments on the one I posted though were hilarious to me so I thought I'd let others enjoy the read too.
Supposedly the B1G isn't all that interested in Clemson.Miami is now an AAU school. They also are the largest TV market of any non SEC/B1G school. That bodes well for an invite to the B1G if the ACC lawsuits are won by Clemson, FSU and now UNC.
We'll see how important two factors are in B1G expansion soon. Will the B1G choose AAU Miami or non-AAU FSU? Both bring the Florida TV market. Secondly the question is how interested is the B1G in Clemson when 2 AAU schools (G. Tech & UNC) are also in a shared TV market. Does the B1G take Clemson and only UNC/G Tech?
Regardless, the ACC is gone. The ACC GOR is barely standing now and ESPN is considering a negate of their contract which essentially ends the GOR. The FSU lawsuit has had two huge wins in their fight with the ACC and North Carolina now joining the party of "time to move on" just weakens the ACC position even further. I fully expect 2025 to be the final year of the ACC as we know it.
Notre Dame will most certainly be the next entry along with Stanford (who hasn't yet signed the GOR) and might be accepted before the year ends. If that happens it will cause the ACC to scramble like never before. Sad days are coming for those like me that are totally against this destruction of years and years of tradition.
Current Secret Talk Rumor
It's rumored (and we all know what "rumored" equates too) that Notre Dame & Stanford have already secretly committed as have Utah & FSU but again.. Rumors aren't worth the paper their written on. Honestly I doubt in 5 years it will matter. I think they're shooting for a 64 team super league and all current alignments will be revised by a authoritative body (a commissioning body of sorts) that will divide the teams into 8, 8 team divisions. The Playoffs will replicate the NFL's and this football only super conference will not be part of the NCAA.Supposedly the B1G isn't all that interested in Clemson.
I have heard FSU, Miami and UNC are the current top targets and they are still hoping for ND. The thoughts on ND is if they bring in Miami and FSU along with USC that it might persuade them to finally join.
