So this must be the part where we make excuses for how bad Lovie has been in his first few years and point to the "better" recruiting as proof that he needs more time, right?
Lovie Smith did pretty good in Chicago for what he had to work with (Rex Grossman at QB) and he finished 89-87 as an NFL coach. (just over .500 - this looks familiar)

He's coached in the NFL so he's obviously a great coach and he'll be an amazing college coach.

Just imagine what he can do at a place with tons of resources like Illinois once he starts to recruit great players.

Illinois is also closer to an Oregon St than Nebraska is to either one.

LOL....this is an interesting recruiting thread to read through.  Good example of why nobody should get all worked up one way or the other on what an 18 year old kid decides to do.

4* (almost 5 star) kid commits two years before he graduates.

De-commits when programs like OSU, Oregon, UCLA, Baylor start showing interest

Commits to Illinois.....of all places

Now....looking around again.

Meh....if he signs here....great...if not....so be it.
