And 15 of them transferred out after this season.Lovie was a great hire for them and he has turned the roster over big time. They are still 2 years away from being a 6ish team win though. They basically play all freshmen and sophomores right now.
Yeah, dudes are transferring like mad from that place. And 15 of them transferred out after this season.
Lovie Smith did pretty good in Chicago for what he had to work with (Rex Grossman at QB) and he finished 89-87 as an NFL coach. (just over .500 - this looks familiar)So this must be the part where we make excuses for how bad Lovie has been in his first few years and point to the "better" recruiting as proof that he needs more time, right?
Illinois is also closer to an Oregon St than Nebraska is to either one.Lovie Smith did pretty good in Chicago for what he had to work with (Rex Grossman at QB) and he finished 89-87 as an NFL coach. (just over .500 - this looks familiar)
He's coached in the NFL so he's obviously a great coach and he'll be an amazing college coach.
Just imagine what he can do at a place with tons of resources like Illinois once he starts to recruit great players.

If that's the case, a good game tomorrow would probably help.
