f#*k

JJ does your wife see the same things?  Is she thinking it's escalated or changed?  How about your brother in law?
I see it, both of our children see it and others who are not not her children see it. My wife and her siblings acknowledge it and obviously know there's a problem but at the same time they don't seem to think it's that urgent and they oftentimes end up making excuses for the behavior. I think they're in a bit of denial. Other times they get just as frustrated and walk away from it.

It really isn't Fox News centric, although with certain things that is definitely an influence. I can't put my finger on it but it seems to be a combination of about 3 things. 1- she doesn't discern between what is actually happening immediately surrounding her and other things that may be occurring in the world even though those things really aren't impacting her life. 2- she likes to talk, so often she gets going and to keep it going she starts making stuff up (although she doesn't think she is). Sometimes I think it's honest confusion but other times....? 3- She doesn't understand many things like IRA's, taxes, medical and health issues etc. but she'll spout off on these subjects like she has discovered something new, that not many others know. Like this morning she was telling me what a crock IRA's are, that she had to pay tax on the money going in and also when withdrawing it. I tried to explain it to her but she won't listen and once she gets a notion in her head, adios.

It is so f#cking frustrating. That's why it ended up in this thread title.

I've had this situation with a parent and a grandparent.  The later it was definitely an issue of not being able to hear well, so she spoke louder (and often more offensively - think about everything you'd purposely whisper being hollered), and as she aged her biases, ignorance and prejudices came roaring out.  With her I just apologized to everyone she offended after the fact, she was pretty limited in where she could go physicially which made that easier.   :-)   Sadly, most people understand.

With my parent I've had to pick my battles.  I try to ignore as much as I can, but the things I speak up on are the offensive racial/ethnicity/sexuality stuff.  When they make a comment I simply say, "you're wrong" and then try to ask why they said that or why they feel that way or where they heard that.  They're still sharp enough to admit that they don't usually have a source, and that they probably shouldn't say it.  With stuff like taxes etc I just ask if they've got someone they're working with - as I've found that me telling them something doesn't resonate like an "expert" doing so.

Sorry man, it's frustrating as heII.

Her hearing is definitely diminished so that contributes but the bigger problem is she's never been much of a listener. Instead of contemplating what others are saying she is preparing to talk herself so it renders half the conversation moot.

She's a caring lady and I love her to death but at the same time this makes it very hard to spend any quality time with her. My tolerance level was probably quite a bit less on this trip because I wasn't planning to see her so I didn't get to mentally prepare ahead of time.

Keep this douchecanoe tactic in mind when Nebraska Admin talks about scheduling home & home games with other Big 8 opponents, like Iowa State, Kansas State and Missouri.

They will do exactly the same thing. Any pound of flesh they can extract from Nebraska, & specifically Nebraska fan, they will.

I have zero nostalgia for those teams. They stabbed Nebraska in the back to form the Big XII. They don't deserve a dime of our money.

I agree.  I'll probably wait and hope prices drop in the secondary market or that I can scalp tickets for cheaper.

I just really want to be there when we piss pound them into oblivion.

Do you ever wonder if the person you complain about here might be on Huskerboard?

Anyhow, some dumbf#&% almost backed into me in my apt parking lot today. I was driving around 10mph as I had just turned into the lot and the parking lot still has a bunch of potholes. I was over his dumbf#&%ery by the time I got parked.

I get out of the car and this a$$h@!e drove all the way around the parking lot and stopped behind my car and says “Ma’am I almost took you out back there.” Thinking he was apologizing I say “Oh it’s ok. You didn’t.” He then says “I think you were driving way too fast. I have a back up camera and it didn’t register you.”

So I reply “Ok goodbye.” And he replies “What?” and I reply “I was driving around 10, goodbye” and he replies “Oh wow” in a “You’re so immature and I’m acting like an adult” tone of voice and drives off.

What kind of f#&%ing a$$h@!e confronts the person he almost backs into? No court of law or police officer would ever have sided with him. And he’s in his own damn apt complex. Who s#!ts where they eat? And now I have to wonder what he’ll do to my car.

Side note: I don’t have a backup camera so I don’t know how good they are. I was driving perpendicular to him. Is it a good idea to rely solely on the camera when cars are going left to right behind you?

HAHA!

Last summer I pulled out (right turn) and I guess the guy that was way behind me thought I should not have pulled out in front of him...anyway we get to the light and he is now next to me and motions to roll down my window.  At this point I thought he was just going to say my tire was low or something like that, I didn't cut him off so I didn't think it was anything bad...he said "Maybe you should stay off your phone when you are driving and you won't cut people off"...I was totally shocked for about half a second, I had no clue what he was talking about so I nodded my head and said "Yeah, that is great advice, do you have any other driving tips?"

He rolled up his window and the light turned green.

it is a horrible idea to rely solely on the back up camera. i have one on my vehicle and while it gives a really good picture you dont get the whole picture. they are really good to keep you from backing into stationary objects directly behind you but you wont pick up people coming from your sides, which you basically did to him.

and he probably wasnt looking at his backup camera. he was probably playing with the radio or his phone then happened to catch you behind him.

Few years ago during work I was leaving a gas station through an alley connected to storage units.  I'm driving a Subaru mini truck mind you.  There is a guy in a big Silverado parked in front of a unit, not moving nor buckled nor was he even remotely resembling someone about to move.  So I slow way down, yield.  Then realize he isn't going anywhere, so I drive past him through this alleyway.  Naturally as I do his taillights light up.  He sees me, no big deal, not even remotely a close call.

Yet, he apparently follows me the 2 blocks back to my work and he had pulled up behind me when I got out.  I walk up and ask if I can help him.

"I just want to know whose gonna pay for my truck for the damages!"

Me, "pardon?"

"You flew behind me as I was backing out!  That's private property, I'm gonna go talk to Ralph (tore shop guy who owns units)"

I just  low him off and walk back to grab my stuff.  But I see him still talking and can vaguely hear him cussing me out.  So I chuck my drink in the back of the mini truck and stormed back over and started yelling at this grumpy old curmudgeon  to the effect of:

"ITS A f#&%ING ALLEY WAY YOU STUPID PRICK!  I SLOWED WAY THE f#&% DOWN BEFORE DRIVING PAST YOU, SORRY YOU'RE TO f#&%ING SENILE TO LOOK IN A MIRROR! PRETTY SURE YOUR BIG TRUCK WOULD FLATTEN THIS DINKY TRUCK DAMAGE WISE!  GET OUT AND I'LL DAMAGE YOUR FACE"

At this point he must have been a little worried because he put the truck in reverse and nudged me with his mirror as he was leaving to which I asked who was gonna pay for my medical bills for the injury he just caused me on private property.   In real life it actually takes a lot to get me to that level of mad, doesn't happen often.

That's pretty funny. I feel like even getting in a wreck shouldn't cause people to go insane. Almost getting in one should call for cussing to yourself in your car and moving on with your day.
