did not really know where else to post this, but on christmas eve i found out i am going to be a father. pretty excited about that. do not usually like to get too personal here on hb, but i had to share this.
Is he/she going to be HB second franchise poster?
someone will have to take up the mantle.
I have a daughter who turned 2 in december, and I sh#t you not, I had to fight her for the big TV the other night to watch the game.

Anybody know anything about Elk meat? I picked up a pound of ground Elk the other day, ideas on what to do with it? :dunno
I grilled a buffalo loin about the same way I'd make a prime rib on the grill, and it turned out really well. I'd suggest putting it on top of your broiler pan, filling the pan with water or broth, and putting it on the grill via indirect heat. Not sure what temp to cook the meat, though.

This is a really good website to check for tips and recipes. LINK

He has a spot on that site where you can ask questions. He gave me great tips for grilling the buffalo, and I'm sure he could help you. This guy really truly knows his stuff.

For the first time ever, I tried shaving with a straight razor last night. What a clusterf**k. Think I only got about half the whiskers off--in strips. Looked like a mini-lawnmower ran up and down my face, skipping every other row. Even drew some blood. I had to start from scratch with a safety razor.

I definitely need some practice. Preferably on someone else's face. Any volunteers?
How long have you been using a safety razor?
Last summer I bought an old Gillette safety razor. It looks sort of like this one: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-TXryzh0PAyk/T1ueawSY2zI/AAAAAAAAKqI/IlQ8LnjrqVU/s1600/%231+1946+GILLETTE+CONTRACT+TECH+SAFETY+RAZOR+(3).JPG

Was it hard to get used to? (I'm assuming you were using cartridge razors before)

I've been looking at getting a safety razor. It seems like it's more cost effective than buying these expensive cartridges all the time.

No, the safety razaor wasn't hard at all. It's about as easy as shaving with a multi-blade cartridge. Maybe a slightly greater risk of cutting yourself. The straight razor on the other hand, well, let's just say it's sort of dicey. I felt like I could slip and accidentally cut my throat. I'll going to be a bit better prepared the next time I try it. Better shave cream and sharper blade, for starters.

Team Gillette Mach 5, that razor cuts real close. But one time I got a cut right where my jaw line and neck meet. Bleed for a solid hour, so many tissues used.

The most economical multiblade shave is probably the Trac II. You can still get handles for Trac II in some drug stores. (Of course you can get any type of razor blade handle on the eBay.) And Trac II blades are dirt cheap compared to nearly anything else.

Gotta be careful. You can actually get them to sharp. You should ask an old barber, they know a lot about that stuff.

You're talking about the Fusion right? That's what I use now, but it's so frickin expensive. Even buying the blades in bulk doesn't help that much.

This is kinda why I want to make the switch: http://www.shaving10...t-it-wrong.html
Yeah that's what I'm talking about. The blades are really expensive, but so far they do the best job.

Our friends at The Shaving Shack recently blogged about a survey that concluded that well-groomed men have much better job prospects, and a study sponsored by Schick revealed that men who shave at least five times a week are having sex 15.5 times per month, compared to 7.8 times for unshaven men.
