Rivals report on his visit
Out of his long, impressive college offer list, Jordan Elliott chose to take his first official visit to Nebraska and he was glad he did.
The Houston (Texas) Westside defensive tackle prospect gave his NU trip a glowing review.
Nebraska made a very positive impression on Elliott during his first official visit.
"It went well," the 6-foot-5, 300-pound Elliott told HOL.com. "I enjoyed myself. I enjoyed my visit. I was mostly hanging out with the coaches and the players."
Cornhusker freshman defensive back Avery Anderson was his player host who showed Elliott around during his stay in Lincoln.
"Yeah, he was my host and he just showed me around the city," Elliott said. "He also showed me the dorms and stuff.
"Just going to the game and experiencing that [was the highlight]. It was a unique experience and the fans are real passionate. I got there like mid third quarter, but it was still great."
Elliott said that he spent the most time over the past two days around the Huskers' defensive line coach and head coach.
"I hung out with Coach Hank Hughes a lot," Elliott recounted. "He was just telling me that he sees me as more than just a football player. It's not just about football, it's about education and life after football. I liked it.
"Coach (Mike) Riley was talking to me and my mom about how we need to communicate more. I called my mom on the phone and Coach Riley and I were talking with her."
With this being his first trip to NU, there were certain things that surprised Elliott about the Huskers' program.
"Just how much stuff they have to benefit their football players," Elliott said. "It's a lot."
Elliott's next official visit will be to Oklahoma on November 20 and he's also considering trips to USC, Texas and Michigan.
"At the end of the day, I'm just going to have to make a tough decision," Elliott stated about what will determine where he ends up playing his college ball.
"All of these programs are real good and at the end of the day I'm just going to have to talk to my family and make a tough decision."
There is one criterion that is most important to his mother and his family, according to Elliott.
"Academics."
As to what his main takeaways from Nebraska will be as he was heading home, Elliott replied:
"I love Nebraska," Elliott shared. "Just the family attitude that Nebraska has -- it's a great football town, everybody's friendly, and the academics are top of the line.
"They have everything you would want as far as technology and top of the line facilities. It was just a good experience."
After his trip to Lincoln, Elliott was asked if he now considers Nebraska a legitimate possible college destination for him and he had a one word response.
"Definitely."
