Joker Movie in the Works

Saw it last night.   @Toe, I was getting the same vibe from the movie.    I will say, if DC/Warner could figure it out and make more movies that are this good, I'd gladly go watch more of their movies.

For me it was a mix of 'Taxi Driver', 'Falling Down' and 'The King of Comedy'.   If you like those three movies, you'll love the Joker.  With the success of this, I hope they do a movie similar to the game Arkham Asylum and tie this version of the Joker to a new darker DC universe which, IMO would have major box office success.

 
MY COWORKER INSISTS THAT THIS MOVIE WAS THE ORIGIN STORY FOR THE HEATH LEDGER JOKER. THEY'RE NOT CONNECTED RIGHT?

 
Has there been a movie since maybe Hostile, that the media has tried to hate so much AND also has tried to egg on people to start shooting up theaters, more than this movie?

The media has been a bunch of hacks trying to stir sh#t up when there’s nothing even there to stir up.

I saw it Sunday at 6 because the 5:30 showing was sold out and boy was it outstanding. There were several parts where I got a little uneasy and one part where I even chuckled when you weren’t suppose to due to what had just happened. Those of you who have seen it may know what I’m talking about and others that haven’t seen it, well, it involves a lock. 

The acting, cinematography, story was well done. For a movie based on one of the most notorious villains actually made you feel sorry for him from start to finish and made you in some ways rooting for him. 
 

When the movie got over there was a cop patrolling outside in the hallway outside the Joker movie we just saw.
 

Now was is it a coincidence seeing a cop patrolling the hallway due to all of this movie quite possible having a copycat shooting (Dark Knight Rises showing from Colorado) or is it a new policy at the theater to have a cop presence at all times?

I can see elements of all of  those movies in the Joker.  Saw it on Sunday.  I liked it OK, not something I really want to see again though.  Not really my kind of movie.  Both my sons liked it a lot.

No.  Don't ever watch it.  The 2nd film looks just as dark as the first.

I had high hopes when it came out and saw it at the theater.  It's just so psychologically depressing.  J Phoenix gets beaten up.  Then later he gets kicked when he's down again.  Then again.  And again.  And somehow the writers are telling the audience "I don't think you get the message, so we are going to do it some more, and have J. Phoenix bathe his 60 year old naked mom".....   

Phoenix does this stupid thing where he weeps, then burst into hysterical psycho laugh at different times.  He has a therapist.  He's poor.  He works with other ugly clowns.  But those clowns want to steal from him and beat him up.  Meanwhile there is a lot of Frank Sinatra music playing.... so it must be hip and cool.  2 hours later he becomes the Joker.  And he get's invited to a late night talk show and stabs the talk show host in the neck (Robert Dinero).  20 minutes later the movie ends.  And that was the only time this week little POS ever showed any kind of violence or meanness.  So I guess he snapped finally.  

The movie is dark and depressing.  It's overacting.  You don't think Joker.  You just see Joaquin Phoenix being a wimp.   And the writing is creepy and wants you to feel it.    

Def not a Joker movie.  Just because at the end he is wearing joker costume and painted face.  But the other 2 hours is disgusting and dark and awkward and creepy.

This is what I thought.  Seemed like an art house type movie that made it big because it already had a name attached to it.
