Landlord

I received a message from Landlord today asking about an email he said he sent to @BigRedMax in December. He's wondering if the message had been received because he didn't receive a response.

I can only assume it's in relation to his behavior and subsequent ban. I told him I would look into it but otherwise didn't say anything to him.

Landlord has sent me a couple of messages in recent weeks asking if Max had 'read an email' that he had sent to Max. I sent Max a PM about it. Basically, Landlord wants to come back (no surprises).

Max said if the mods are OK with him coming back, then Max will remove the ban and allow him back on a very short leash.

Selfishly, I just want Landlord to stop messaging me about it :)  So I'd like to tell Landlord something, even if it's just to let it go and move along.

Anybody have a measurable vote one way or the other? This is what I've gathered based on posts after his ban:

Mavric: No strong opinion

BRI: No

Saunders: Unsure

Thanks_Tom: Unsure

Enhance: No strong opinion

jsneb83: Unsure

seaofred92: Unsure

I don't particularly care, despite what it might look like in the rest of this post.

But he has been a complete a$$ to @BigRedMax ever since he bought the board.  He has racked up the most warnings of any single account that I know of.  He's always the first one to complain about everything.  And he routinely inserts himself into conversations for the sole purpose of telling someone how wrong they are and how he knows so much better.

In short, I think he's had more than enough chances.  He might behave better for awhile to try to show that he deserved another chance.  But I can't imagine he'll be anything other the the rude jerk who insists he's the smartest person in the room and can't wait to tell you about it.

I don't like getting rid of long-time members.  But he's here for Landlord, not the board nor any discussion hereon.  It's fine if he's back but just don't be in the dark about what would be coming back.

I think Maverick laid it out pretty well above. I also don't like the idea of banning people and then "unbanning" if you will- does anyone really believe if you let Landlord back it'll somehow result in no further issues? Banning should be permanent IMO, the precedent of letting people back sends the wrong message to the rest of the board IMO. This type of situation reminds me of a toxic ex that after you've spent enough time together you rationalize a lot of what happened, only to be together for 2 weeks again and the same issues arise.

My thoughts are this- if we let him back thats fine. But be prepared to send him into the abyss within two weeks of him being back. And at that point, is it really worth any of our time having to monitor that situation?
