Landlord

As I was saying in the teach thread, Landlord often has no intention of participating in the discussion, simply telling people they are wrong.

But it's only other people who are trolling.

So every team has the exact same opportunity to prepare and practice?  And teams can't get better as the season goes on?

We averaged 7 runs per game in the tournament.  In the first four games we averaged 8.5.  That would seem to be when there's hardware on the line.  I'm pretty sure you have to win previous games to get to the title game.

There's hardware on the line in a game where you win you get the hardware, you lose you don't. But sure, the games leading up to that are important to get there.

Erstad's 13-19 in postseason play and 1-6 in the NCAA tourney, with the same perceived issues as to why that haven't changed over 8 seasons.

Good job avoiding answering the questions.

They were stupid questions I don't have any interest in spending time responding to

Not to mention the irony of the guy who probably has the most warnings of anyone on this site complaining that we don't do anything about other posters bad behavior.

God, the amount of obstinance he is displaying in the MW weed thread right now is  . He's being contrarian just to be contrarian.

Everybody: Rules are rules

Landlord: I disagree with that

Everybody: Your opinion doesn't change the rules

Landlord: Rules are dumb

That thread explains so much.....

Comments like that make it difficult to take some of his reports on other members seriously, especially those recent teachercd ones.

He (and Moiraine) make it seem like we're enabling some grossly immoral or unethical standard half the time, but they then post that kind of stuff and treat it like it's no big deal. And Lord forbid somebody call them out on it because, if they do, then every one else is to blame for 'misunderstanding the context' or some other excuse.

It's a very Landlord-type thing to do/say. But, he's not alone. There are a lot of people who want this board to go back to the way it was, but they don't seem willing or able to accept that pretty much everyone was freeloading off of someone else's wallet at the time.

That said, I can understand their frustration to some degree. I don't think some people really liked the way this all went down and how they weren't given any other option. And some of the transitions have been less than smooth. Compound this with a football program that's still trying to get out of a slump for seemingly the Nth year in a row...

I think most of their complaints ring hollow. I've never seen any evidence to suggest this place could or should operate off of a voluntary payment model. I feel like we had to scrap for donations in the past. I may be wrong. But, at the end of the day, we don't own this site and it's not our decision to make. I don't think any of this is that big of a deal but sometimes I feel like I'm one of the few (at least in comparison to the regular board members).

I agree that some of the transition has not been smooth. It took me two months to find a programmer to do the upgrade to the BBS and he had the floaty ad on mobile that I was able to get him take it down within a day.

I have no idea how much was raised with the voluntary payment model. I don't see that as a viable option. Right now the ad model is still less than break even from what I paid Chad and his partners from the site and may not get to break even for up to three years so I am in this for the long haul.

I have hidden some of the complaints about ads in regular threads and will be reaching out to individual posters to let them know to keep their complaints in the Board Feedback forum.

I want this to work as I have invested serious money into it and it cannot survive without the ad revenue model.

People don't like change, but over time we adapt. Honestly the ads aren't as noticeable anymore and I've gotten used to the fewer posts per page.
