Man I forgot how good Taylor's wheels were

Tim Tebow was not a home run threat as a runner. He was complete joke altogether. Hell, he wasnt even that good at Florida. He just had top notch talent around him at every position and a proven offensive mind as HC. Taylor already is twice the qb Tebow ever dreamed of bein.
Please tell me how you really feel about Tebow.

That's true Taylor has probably done more with less than most QBs in the NCAA during his time. But I just don't know... Wait and see I guess.

In the end, no, I honestly dont think he's gonna make it as a pro QB-not in the NFL anyways. He has not yet shown that he can consistently make all the necessary throws required by the NFL game-whether it be from a mental or physical aspect. Now obviously that could change. We havent yet seen the 2013 edition of Taylor, and 2012 was quite an improvement, especially from the mental side, from 2011. I just happen to think he's gonna get a look. He's performed well enough to earn that.

I don't know how Taylor doesn't play in the NFL with how athletic he is. I mean they can surely find a place for him.

People on this board think I'm crazy, but Taylor will get a shot at the league. At the quarterback position.

He might not make much of it, but he will get a chance.
I think so too. If Kaepernick can, and RGIII can, then Taylor can certainly get a look. This new age style of the "running" qb in the NFL is going to allow Taylor to get some looks, if not be drafted as a qb altogether.
I'm not really sold on him having any kind of a chance in the NFL at QB. People thought Tebow's mechanics were bad but Taylor's aren't that much better. He's a lot quicker on the delivery but he doesn't have good arm strength and lacks consistency. I would love to be proven wrong though and I hope he improves again this year, and with the effort and tenacity he's shown years past he should.

I think you're pretty flat out wrong.

Taylor has a cannon for an arm; he throws lazer beams. He has really great accuracy too, at least when he's confident and going through his mechanics properly (see Southern Miss).

Literally the only thing keeping Taylor from being an NFL thrower is between his ears. He makes poor decisions and doesn't read defenses well enough. He has the physical ability in every other area.

:ahhhhhhhh I'm cheering Taylor on this year big time. I think he's gonna have a hell of a year in this offense. Seriously though, there is nothing literal about "the only" thing keeping Taylor from being an NFL quarterback being between his ears.

Why is it on Huskerboard, we are somehow not allowed to root a guy on without admitting that he has many flaws? I notice this with both Taylor and Bo Pelini. Your either have a full on hard on for them and get on your knees to kiss their a$$ no matter what they do. Or you have really grown to like both of them but admit they still have some work to do and some how you are the devil for saying such things!

So this thread is going to turn into yet another bitchfest about Taylor Martinez? Fantastic.
Bitchfest? No. Reasonable discussion of his continual blunders? Probably. There's as much reason to talk about that as their is his dynamic athleticism and improved passing accuracy.
Threads about Taylor Martinez at HuskerBoard are known for their reasonable critiques. It's a hallmark of discussion. Thank goodness we can't have a thread about one of the hardest-working players we've had at this school without pointing out how many blunders he makes. That would just be silly.

What if Nebraska had never fired Solich and he got to coach Taylor wearing a matte black helmet?

You're allowed to do that. I'm not saying he's perfect, or even that all of the elements of his game are great or elite.

I'm saying that he is capable in every physical regard, of being an NFL quarterback. He has the arm strength and accuracy. It's the mental side of it that will be to his detriment more than anything.

Is it just me or does it sound like the announcer is saying "tater" at times instead of "taylor"?
Ugh. I loathe how he says it. And why does he use Taylor instead of Martinez? With every other player it's the last name. It makes it sound like the announcer really really likes lil Taylor.

Taylor would have won a heisman and NC on those Florida teams. It's not hard to throw 5 yard dump passes to Percy Harvin and have him take it 60 yards. Hell, if he had Jeff Demps, Percy Harvin, and Aaron Hernandez, along with a great offensive mind in Meyer (and a total d******d) and a real defense, he would have been considered a great QB.

Their seems to be more people bitching about people being critical of him than there are people actually being critical of him. There's a bitchfest going on alright.
This^^ How can you discuss a player without discussing his misfortunes as well.. If you only talk about the good, then all players are perfect.....
Seriously? You think that it's impossible to have a discussion about our players without criticizing them?
Hmmm, I fail to drink unreasonable amounts of Kool-aid. As I said before, if he cuts out the turnovers, he likely becomes the best ever to play here. Most likely it will lead to championships of some sort, but only read the posts you want to.
Please show us where you said anything like this before this post.

Frank would look good in a matte black helmet. ;)

Personally I think he is one of the best athletes in college football. He can outrun any one on the field and not even make it close and get to top speed in 3 or 4 steps. I only wish he could juke, he can only go straight effectively it seems like. Braxton Miller is someone that has great agility and can juke people out. TMart just outruns people, Braxton makes people miss.

Christ all mighty if Taylor had juking ability and agility to that of Crouch or Braxton Miller, combined with his top end speed, he'd score every time he touches the ball. How would you defend something like that? It's not even human.

I'm totally in the minority here and I've been on record since 2009 that he will be in NY for the ceremony before he leaves...

But, save for Gill (who I personally believe was hands down the best): There's a real argument that TM is the second best QB this team has ever seen. IMHO, roughly half of his turnovers would be bye bye if he wasn't forced to 'force' so much throughout his career. I don't have the time or energy to crunch the numbers...but if you slice 50% of the turnovers from fumbles / interceptions he's accounted for, I'll bet it's on par with the likes of all the greats...or at least real close.

I'm not saying he IS the second best....but there is a REAL arugument there. As so many have said time and again, give him the teams some of those greats had........oh wait......he might have it this year to prove! Offensively at least!
