The "actual games" that were in fact friendly exhibitions with zero consequences for the upcoming Olympics? 

The Dream Team thought the college player beating was legit. Chuck Daly thought it was legit. Watch the Dream Team documentary — that was the moment they realized all the talent in the world wouldn't matter if they didn't figure out a way to play together.

I'd accuse you of moving the goalposts, but this is basketball.

My favorite player on the Nigerian team is probably Gabe Vincent, born in Modesto, plays for the Miami Heat and shares my birthday.

I have not moved a thing.  Bulls better than GS.  

Then the GS crowd came to tell me how amazing the players are today and how they are unguardable...then they get smoked two games in a row.

I never called Kevin Durant unguardable. I think that claim came from a bunch of former NBA players and analysts who have no trouble acknowledging his unique skillset and don't believe it threatens their youthful memories of Michael Jordan in any way. 

The Tokyo 2020 U.S. team is nowhere near the '92 Dream Team at the moment, as many of the best players are sitting  it out, busy testing positive for COVID, or still playing in the NBA Finals. You also won't find some of the best NBA players on the team because they will be playing for other countries. The international game has gotten vastly more competitive in the last 30 years. 

They also play better defense across the board today, even if you have fond memories of Bill Laimbeer clocking someone in the face. 

Times change.
