It sucks that the only way actually out of this mess seems to be to go the route of collective bargaining and the actual, literal death of the student athlete model and just make it into a professional league. Seems clear by now that the Supreme Court is going to essentially laugh in the NCAA's face any time they try to restrict anything.
I don't think the players right now realize how great they have it, because the CBA route is going to eventually come, and they will be so weak in their bargaining power.
Pretty wild that college athletics has existed for more than a century in a more-or-less illegal fashion and nobody really cared that much to notice or care.
