New AD - Different direction??

With new AD, what different moves will we see on staff?

What to do with the DC if he leaves?  Moves with other staff postions?

We need to make big boy moves with our staff.  Non-HC that is. I am sure HCMR is going no where.

The only coach move I see happening is Foley out...and that is a long shot. He needs to go...the ST was horrendous, again!

Butler takes over for DC if White does indeed leave....not a huge fan if this does happen. There has to be someone else he can get that has more experience as not only a DC, but also in the college ranks.

Not sure the AD will force any moves...at least not for next year.

Agree, hope Butler suprises us.

This.  It seems HCMR isn't too keen on replacing staff absent a desperate situation.  Like the decent possibility a couple weeks ago of not making a bowl.  It could be the only reason he brought Dana Holgorsen on.  If we had already had that 6th win prior to the last bye week, I think it's likely Satt is still the OC and we may have lost to Wisky and likely been shutout by Iowa.  Even though we'd still be at 6-6, in that scenario, I think there would be little reason for optimism, especially with DC White jumping ship.  I we can't retain Holgorsen, there's going to be some unrest in Huskerland.

Butler moves to DC. That makes sense.

I would not be surprised if Dana leaves to take another job, possible HC.

Also would not be surprised if Satt ends up back at OC next year. The whole thing was to bring in Dana to give us outside feedback and all that, then we moved him to OC because we were desperate to break the bowl-less streak. Now, I fear, MR might just say that we learned a lot from Dana being here and can apply what we learned next year.

Not much cause for hope with the Huskers, who are two years, maybe three, from making a change at the top.

Rinse. Repeat.

MR coaches his way into losses. He did it in year one. He did it again in year 2.

Get better players? Sure. Development? That's important too. Some quality coach moves? That's fine.

But it's Coach Ruhle deciding to burn a timeout while not trying to get an opponent to jump offsides.

It's Coach Ruhle who is putting the consistent fumbling RB into the action with the game on the line.

And the examples could go on and on.

The story is not likely to change.

Hope to be dead wrong on all of that.

I agree.  I've seen a few posters who seem content with seeing how Butler pans out, if that's where HCMR goes.  I haven't run across anyone actively wanting him.

He's been penciled in as the 2025 DC since he was hired IMO - just expected White to be leaving for a HC job. And I do wish the DB play last year gave me more confidence in Butler. Sure, I would love for Saban to realize he doesn't have to deal as much with the things he hates about college football as a DC, but that ain't happening. I don't know who a realistic home run hire would be, and on the defensive side I think keeping continuity where possible is good.

I also see the appeal of moving on for White. Whether it's pressure from Rhule or White himself realizing what the defense needs to look like in the Big Ten, it's different that what he has developed. At FSU he can get paid, have even better talent, and run more of the fun parts of his scheme than the Big Ten allows. I'd like him to stay here, but as far as lateral moves go it's reasonable even with FSU's disaster of a season. They still have insane talent, the conference is a better fit, and I expect them to be a top-15 defense and land him a much better HC gig in 2026.

Also would not be surprised if Satt ends up back at OC next year.
