Objective: Establish and maintain a running game

What needs to be noted is the type of run game that we employ, it is a chess match. We are going to have negative plays as Oregon leads the nation in that category. But every running play we run sets up the next one as we see the defense over-pursue from the previous one.

I would agree that generally we have conditioning and strength issues. However, I'm not convinced conditioning concerns apply to Ameer. Sure there will be times in a game where he'll need a breather depending on his workload and the time in the game. But let's not pretend that is impacting our ability to sustain a running game. Cross and Newby are more than acceptable to hold up the RB responsibilites. Our running game is more dependent on two other factors; the OL and Beck's play calling. Our OL , while significantly improved, currently has injury and depth issues but the biggest factor still appears to be haphazard and, at times, stupid play calling. We don't establish and maintain a running game because too often Beck panics and won't give it a chance to get established.
