Serious question here. If he didn't grow up or play for NEB would anyone seriously want to hire him for the NEB job?? I guess the real question is would half of you even know who he was if he was just the Oregon OC

This gets posed all the time, and frankly I think it's a dumb question.

Him being a Nebraska native that played here is part of his resume to look at as a potential head coach at Nebraska. He's a great coach in his own right, but him being a hometown boy that knows the culture, a former player that knows the program, and a good man that would embrace the values and the characteristics of the state are important.

Would Michigan have hired Brady Hoke if he wasn't a Michigan Man? Would Urban have jumped back into coaching for any job other than his homestate school? You don't think Bama will come calling to Dabo Swinney when Saban hangs it up? Would Pat Fitzgerald or Mike Gundy have essentially lifetime job security if they didn't play at NW or OSU respectively?
So a good reason for the Frank Solich hire is because he played here? Or to have Turner Gill here as a head coach. Would it be great to bring back the hometown kid who won a national championship?? Sure, but I don't need a hometown kid for me to feel better about the program. I just want the coach who is going to win here. He has ZERO head coaching experience this year and the last couple years he's called plays he had arguably the best QB in the NCAA. Let's see what he can do on his own before we crown him.
Lawrence, I didn't realize they gave you internet access in the hole, and are you still mad that Frosty started banging Kate McEwen after you and her broke up?
Ha!!

No shave november actually leads with a good cause and deals with an ideology to create awarness as well. I was in for this no shave novemver and I was growing my beards to help society for a cause. The main reason is I love beards and grooming them in different styles, I am trying to grow it now as well. I use beard creams and other effective product for ensuring my faster facial hair growth.

the only thing that's bringing the stupid, is your family tree.
I guess when some lose the battle, they resort to personal attacks.
What's always astonished me is how personal attacks on posters is frowned upon around the boards, but if a poster calls our players "mules" that's no big deal.

It's also never seen as repetitive, whereas, in defense of the "mules," pointing out that the jockey may be incompetent is seen as "the same drivel" over and over.

What about when they booed during the OSU home game comeback?
What about it?
Were fans being a$$hole$ as you put it.

I find it interesting you can read Brown's mind based on a facial expression.
I don't believe anyone was booing during the comeback so you can make your own judgement if you were even there.

There was no smile on Brown's face, just a WTF look so yes I can read body language pretty good.
Still just speculation.

It's possible he knew they were booing Pederson, but he made the face because he thought it was still inappropriate.
Yup, a guy that had not been back in 40 years and he knew they weren't booing him when the booing started the moment he was introduced. You can take that point of view if it makes you feel better. Or maybe you were one of the boo birds?
You're assuming that just because he didn't live in/near Lincoln he was oblivious to the status of the program and the people running it? How elitist of you.

I'm not taking that point of view to feel better. In fact, I'm not taking anything. I'm just not naive enough to believe that you can read minds. I'm not a bird -- you need someone to give you one?

a 10 point loss is a blowout only if it fits your agenda
Letting the worst team in the B1G score 55 on you is not a blowout only if it fits your agenda.
How terrible the opponent is and how many points they scored have nothing whatsoever to do with the definition of a blowout. By your idiotic definition, we blew MSU out. They're a playoff team so beating them by 1 point would be a blowout if we follow this idiocy.

How do you reach that conclusion???

Having over half a recruiting class not contributing much is pretty common.

I find this interesting.

2005 Average star 3.15 (32 recruits)

2016 Average Star 3.2 (15 recruits) obviously not finished yet.

What this basically points out is that in college football, one recruiting class doesn't push you over the edge to greatness. It takes several years of that type of class to do that.

But, you have to start somewhere. Let's keep this class rolling and carry that momentum into next year.
Prospects for the current class are looking pretty bleak. We likely need at least 8 more bodies to fill the class, and we are in (really in, not just an offer with low interest) on very few high ranked players. We are currently ranked #31 on 247.
Not sure where you are getting that.

Here are the players I think we are still in on pretty well.

Farniok 4*

Reese 3* (admittedly, I am concerned about his recent trip to Texas)

Fitzpatrick 4*

L. Jackson 4*

Watts 3*

Poljan 3*

I. Simmons 4*

M. Simmons 3*

Those 8 have an average star ranking of 3.5. If we could get these, that would put our average star ranking at 3.3. That's a better pace than our last staff was in their second season. And, we are in on a lot of really good talent right now for the 2017 class.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas!
So you are wrong and you reply with a stupid comment. Shocking

Your lack of knowledge no longer astounds me.

I heard from a very good source with very close connections to POB, that TA is getting Dailey-ed (knocked down to #3 or #4 on the depth chart) and the job has already been handed to POB.

Barring injury, POB will be your starter next season. TA will likely transfer after spring.
More evidence we need drug testing before people are allowed to post on Huskerboard.
