Would be incredibly surprised if he turns this down.According to CBS Sports Shaka Smart has been offered $2.5M to coach Illinois.
The list of men's basketball coaches who apparently don't want the Nebraska job is growing.
Three sources Tuesday told The World-Herald that Wichita State's Gregg Marshall was offered the NU job, likely at an annual salary of at least $2 million.
Two of those sources said Marshall has turned it down, while the third said Marshall wasn't showing any interest. Two of those sources have direct access to Marshall, who didn't return messages left by The World-Herald.

Not so gloomy as some are depicting......Marshall probably was never going to be interested ....Groce's situation hasn't played out yet and Smart was an extreemly long shot. The list of men's basketball coaches who apparently don't want the Nebraska job is growing.

to paraphrase:
Wichita State's Marshall says No
Ohio's Groce apparently wouldn't be interested
VCU's Smart apparently wouldn't be interested
Not surprised. Can't say I blame them, all of the above could stand for much higher profile job offers with far greater risk.
We are both on the same page TS. I don't see a young up and comer wanting to take a chance on the Huskers. Lets face it may of these guys look at Nebraska as a coaches grave yard. Majeras on the other hand might see it as a challenge and with the right salary and state of the art facilities he could very well see it as the perfect place to end his coaching career. With the apparent (and understandable) disinterest of most or all of the young up and coming coaches, I'm leaning toward Rick Majerus. Don't know if he has any interest in moving or likes the anonimity of St Louis U. The man can flat out coach, does well at recruiting and his kids would run through a wall for him. While Scott Sutton may be a decent coach, I'm afraid the Peter Principle may kick in and he'd be another Barry Collier. Rick M would seem to have many of the qualities of Doc Sadler that we liked. Hard working, runs a clean program, recruits good kids, likeable to a majority of fans. Plus he should be a better recruiter with name recognition. I don't think we can do better than Rick, outside of offering 3 to 4 million, but we could do much worse.
No, but Dr. Tom is all about forgiveness and second-chances, though I shouldn't have to remind folks of that.AND, wasn't it coeds he was partying with......?? Somehow I doubt Dr. Tom would approve...............(not exactly his idea of "mentoring")I will pass on Larry Eustachy, he was a good coach at ISU and lead them to an elite 8. But the whole partying thing after his team just lost a game hours before hand is still what people remember him for.Sounds like Larry Eustachy has asked for consideration and stated he'd be interested if we would want to talk to him. Not sure I think that much of him but the information is an FYI. Some believe we also contacted Smart today but I haven't been able to get a conformation one way or the other. But I would hope like hell we at least ask to talk to him.
