P&R Forum Restricted Access

250 works for me.

As for the limiting the posts...that seems like it would get more backlash. I think prevention at the start is probably the better return on investment.
I agree with this. I think a limit could work if it was a ratio (for the guys who only post in P&R), but then it's getting really complicated.

There are apparently two different settings

  • Minimum content count to see forum
  • Minimum content count to post

At the moment I have "No restriction" on "Minimum content count to see forum" but a 250 on "Minimum content count to post"

At first I was going to set them both to 250 but then I changed my mind and thought perhaps people should know it's there and can see discussion but have to get to 250 to post.

Thoughts?

I don't mind too much if the people can have access to see it but not post. The only thing that would change my personal opinion is if the people who don't have access start reporting things in P&R since they can't respond. Or, if they see stuff in there and decide to take it up with people in the Woodshed. That would just get irritating.

I think I've just talked myself into thinking it's a better idea to forbid them from seeing anything, too.

In fact, another reason I would lean that direction is because of our 'Guest' moderator(s) that keep reporting stuff in P&R but don't have an account. Seems like they're doing that stuff just to be vindictive since they're probably a previously banned member.

Also, I added a brief explanation of this change to the Board Feedback thread, so if there are any suggestions please let me know!

From the @45timesbetterthanemptysuit thread:

Yeah, there are a few outstanding items I think have been needed to get updated there for some time:

- There's a misspelling in the first board rule (says 'debated' instead of 'debate')

- This rule about doxxing

- A standard rule about no politics outside of P&R (with a link to the full explanation in our Board Feedback forum)

IIRC there was some discussion at one point that we were having trouble finding the Guidelines on the admin side. Any truth to that still @Mavric @Saunders?

I finally found the right page.  I corrected the misspelling.  I'll get the doxxing rule added.  What else needs to be there?

@Mavric Perhaps something general about our P&R approach? Something like:

No Politics and Religion Outside of the Designated Sub-Forum

This limitation extends to status updates and Huskerboard user profiles including avatars, user names, signatures and forward-facing aspects of user profiles. New users must also have a minimum of 250 posts on their account before they will be granted access to post in the Politics & Religion sub-forum. For full details, please visit this thread in the Board Feedback forum.

So since we have included a minimum post limitation on this, do you think we should mention this in the description of the forum?

I've received a few PM's about being unable to access the forum, so I pinned a very shortened version of our P&R guidelines at the top of the P&R sub-forum so that people can find the post limit information more readily.
