Purdue - What did we learn?

Finished a frustrating game with a win...that is progress.

Rhule publicly saying he will fight for his guys...the penalty woke the boys up a little to keep them going.

There's got to be a kid on campus that long snapped in high school.

Would. Penn St looks better on both LoS than we did against Illinois. So don’t see it happening
Yep. They may keep it close until half, but I see a 3-4 TD win for PSU barring a bunch of turnovers.

Edit: Watching Allar miss wide open WR left and right has me walking this back. Way less impressed with him tonight. Go Illini!

We can stop the run when we want to, we have pass rushers, and we have a quarterback. Seems like a recipe for success to me. Not everything is perfect but we are built to win games besides the special teams aspect.

Would it make folks feel better if Illinois beats #8 Penn State?

Or that Colorado is 4-1, having only been shut down by Nebraska?
Actually, watching Illinois play Penn state makes me realize that what Bielema has done in Illinois is really impressive as much as I hate to admit it. I know this will make me a target but I really believe that what Bielema has done in Illinois is way more impressive than what Rhule has done so far given the weapons and resources that Rhule has at his disposal.

This is also his 4th year there.

It's weird how people are acting like Rhule is a failure after a 4-1 start in year 2.  We're usually 2-3 at this point in the season.

I never said he is a failure. I don’t think he is a failure at all. However, I do not see him taking steps towards fixing the issues that have plagued us for over a decade and cost us so many close games. Why aren’t we going after the best special teams coach we can get? Why are we still committing 10+ penalties a game? If Rhule hopes to bring Nebraska back, he needs to fix these two things. Last week, there is no denying that we were outcoached.

I can agree with this about some pieces but you are ignoring a glaringly obvious thing he has improved which was the #1 most important thing to improve, which has been a problem for us for years across multiple coaches.

Purdue’s DBs like to tackle the WRs before the ball arrives. Not sure I’ve ever seen 6 (???) DPI penalties in a game.

The ref who called the phantom OPI on Fidone should face some consequences from the B1G office. I don’t think he actually saw anything, just heard the Purdue bench yelling at him and threw a flag.

And I’m 99% positive Rhule challenged that play just to make the ref rewatch it and see the mistake that was made.

Rhule has been the best coach we have had since Bo. However, he is still 1-6 in one score games. The reason for that has yet to be fixed. I strongly believe that Rhule is a great fit for Nebraska but he still needs to work on fixing what has plagued us for a decade. I am also still not convinced that Satt is a good OC.

nobody can hit a FG in the Penn state illinois game.   we aren't the only team having that problem

and seeing illinois go from 1st and goal to a 45 yard missed FG attempt sure reminded me of nebraska in OT last week
