Rumors Tony White to FSU

I don’t get it either. Coaches and their career decisions are just about as unexplainable as the high school players decisions they recruit.

I don't get it either

He is going to Florida State for one season before Norvell gets fired? I don't understand it.

He signs a 3 year deal, works for 1 if Norvell gets fired and gets paid for most of it.  Seems like a fine deal to me.  If he was butting heads a bit with Rhule/Butler then this easily makes sense.  Much easier to get the kind of athlete he wants down there also.

Well, he’s going to a program that is a clear step up. Easier recruiting turf and my guess is things have happened behind the scenes with some of rhules staff and analyst additions that probably went against how Tony wanted to build his defense

guy made a step up from Syracuse to Nebraska and is now doing the same to Florida state
Step up in recruiting? Maybe. The rest of your post is pure speculation.

The first part of your post makes sense….and isn’t a negative towards Nebraska.

The silver lining in this whole thing is that Rhule is forced to go all in.  It’s put up or shut up.  Other teams are making moves and we are hanging onto our ST coach.  No more 1 game improvement year over year.  Go out and hire the best.  This is the Blackshirts, this is the most competitive conference in CFB, this is time to say we are here to play year in and year our?  Indiana?  Penn State?  There is no reason we can’t do what they just did.  Oregon comes in and takes over the Big 10 in their first frickin year.

Let’s gooooo!  Inspire confidence, get top tier coaches, get top tier get recruits, use the NIL, and play to win.  :steam

I don’t think it’s speculation at all that Florida state is a better program than we are right now.
You sure about that? Their list of decommitments might say otherwise. Same for their record and coaching staff upheavel. Not saying we're better, but it's hard to say Florida State is better than most P5 programs at this stage given their recent performances and misfortunes on the recruiting trail. Add in their lawsuits with the ACC and payouts and some might say Florida State is not a top job.

lol, yah I’m pretty sure man.

2022-2023 they put up a 23-4 record in 2 seasons.  Had they not had horrendous injury luck late last year, they would’ve been in the playoff. For reference, that’s more wins in a 2 year span than we put up in 6+ consecutive seasons prior to this season kicking off.

They won the natty 10 years ago- while that’s distant, it’s sure as hell more recent than 27 years ago.

they are in, by far, a much more advantageous recruiting area.

outside of Nebraska being in the big ten, there isn’t a single thing about our progrum you can logically state is better than Florida state and the product placed on the field.

Yeah I get it they were good two years ago and have had won titles more recently than us.

Currently, they are coming off a two-win campaign with nine decommits since September. Replacing both their OC & DC seem concerning as well. Thus, it's debatable which program is in a better position at the moment.

and to be fair- we are not only replacing both our OC and DC but most likely ST as well.

im not saying Tony white going to bama but given all the circumstances and how often coordinators move in todays game, fsu isn’t the “lateral” move many are making it out to be

Or is this Norvell realizing what needs to be done to get the job done he's being paid millions to do....Cally hung onto Cosgrove...Riley to Banker (Diaco was worse)...Frost too well, everyone....Rhule making a move 9 games into year 2 says he realized he chose poorly.

so, same as us…..but our defense was good enough that he was hired away instead of fired.

Got it.

Both coaches are making needed changes.
