Yes, one year ago. Sorry, it feels like a lifetime ago given their letdown this year. When your only wins are against Cal and Georgia Southern, you're in rough shape. 

In terms of program 'status,' I guess my view boils down to one coach is on the hot seat and the other is prepping for a bowl game. One program is adding highly rated recruits, the other has been busy losing them. Florida State does have an easier path to adding talent and an easier conference to find success.

Don’t disagree on the recruit part, I’m really hoping we don’t lose any in the next 36 hours!

We’ve had a couple defensive players get in the portal that people are upset about and I think it’s just as likely they were told it was time to look around.

 
Somebody mentioned Oregon top of the Big Ten first year.  I believe they lead the nation in NIL money.  Last I checked Nebraska was like 42nd in the nation in NIL funds.  We can talk all we want about coaches, but the bottom line is college football has changed forever.  Without the NIL funds you can’t compete year after year.  You might get lucky every few seasons, but the days of program building are over.  It’s all about the money.  If you have the money, the talent will show up. Until this is addressed and with Nebraska’s population base it’s going to be tough.  The days of walk on’s and development is long over.  Very sad in my opinion.

2022-2023 they put up a 23-4 record in 2 seasons.  Had they not had horrendous injury luck late last year, they would’ve been in the playoff. For reference, that’s more wins in a 2 year span than we put up in 6+ consecutive seasons prior to this season kicking off.

They won the natty 10 years ago- while that’s distant, it’s sure as hell more recent than 27 years ago.

they are in, by far, a much more advantageous recruiting area.

outside of Nebraska being in the big ten, there isn’t a single thing about our progrum you can logically state is better than Florida state and the product placed on the field.

Have some f#&%ing pride. We have better facilities, a better fan base, more wins, more titles.. those are substantial things. Why don’t you go on their boards and stroke their Ds…no one wants to see that around here.

yawn, still living in the past I see. Go ahead, pop in the vhs tapes and go get a hard on to some of our title videos of the 20th century
 

Me? I’m a realist.  Perhaps a little more realism is needed around these parts, players and students at unl know nothing but the Callahan era onward regarding husker football.  The “wins”, “facilities” and “titles” from now 30 + years ago sure have helped us this century! 
 

if you really think our program is in better shape you’re delusional. FSU has shown an ability to be a title contender twice in the last decade, we haven’t even formed a squad to win the big ten west twice in the last 10 years lol

Oregon is paying NIL money for a top 5 team.  I hope they would be near the top in NIL funds.  We are paying for a 6-6 team.  I would hope we are in the middle of the pack.

Now, as it relates to "Available" NIL money for a top 5 team.  I'm pretty sure Nebraska can get there.  And we've seen some of that already happening with some of the players they are bringing in last year, and this year.
