That’s a pretty stupid rule. I don’t see why it should be treated any different than a walk-on receiving a scholarship.

I would say it probably means he can’t participate in spring practice, the semester he’s not on scholarship. But the NCAA doesn’t make a lick of sense.

Thanks for the answer. However the rule is illogical, considering the recent 4 game rule. I'm not sure what the NCAA is trying to prevent/preserve with this. It's not a huge deal as hopefully we won't need him and he may not be ready to contribute anyway. It just seems really inconsistent and random.

He gets to play at the P5 level and not at Youngstown or ColoSt. 


Ya, otherwise he was probably headed to Wyoming, Air Force, or whatever. Plus the offer was thrown-out there as a blue-shirt. It's not one of those cases where a kid commits and program then turns his offer into a blue-shirt one
