From Husker Journal. I like this Gladney kid.

AUGUST 15, 2012. ALL TEAMS MESSAGE BOARDS KEVIN GLADNEY, WR, 6-1, 185, 4.5, AKRON (FIRESTONE), OHIO

“Great To Be A Husker”

“You know it’s going to be great to be a Husker I feel it was a great choice. What I most like about Nebraska is how the coaches treat the players. Everybody is a family and everything. Their facilities are right there. That’s what I like about Nebraska.” Gladney said

Ohio Kids Showing A Second Home

“Nebraska is sort of like family they have 6 from Ohio, I don’t know how many they have but it’s a lot, I like that. It’s kind of different it’s (Lincoln) 14 hours away from Ohio for kids to go to that school, home away from home, but it’s the Big Ten and it’s a good school. And for Ohio kids to go there it shows something about Nebraska.” Gladney said

“Everything was good. Lincoln was a good city to me a good place for me to stay for four years, kind of like how that’s how I picked it.”

“When I talked to Coach Vince Marrow he told me I have a great shot to play early there. He said I’m not 6-1 you’re more like 6-5. I being 6-4 can grab the ball go past the defender.”

Complete Player

“They like how I run my routes,” he says. “And the most important thing I can adjust to the quarterback passes and everything, that’s what they said the most about me, adjusting to the ball.”

“They (NU coaches) said I’m a difference maker, right now I’m at the top of the list for recruits at wide outs. They wanted me all the highlight tapes they watched. I’m the one and that was a big thing and talking to (Tom) Osborne was a big thing ‘like man’. For him (Osborne) knowing about me, like they really want me to be a Husker.” Gladney said

I'm not a Twitter-er so forgive me if I'm not looking at this correctly but he seemed to indicate that he'll be graduating early and showing up in January. Anyone know if that's the case?

He's been trying to get his classes in order to be able to enroll early. But the last I heard there were still only a few kids enrolling early like Love and Lacatoure with McWilson still trying.

Won't be enrolling early. The staff pretty much told him to just go be a high school senior and that he wouldn't be missing much.

I believe our WRs this year are the beginning of something special for that position for decades to come. And not just on the collegiate level. I believe sooner or later the NFL will be littered with husker receivers and tight ends. Westercamp and Gladney are next in line.

Agreed...Westerkamp will be out there too!! We should have some great receivers for the next few years. Can't wait.

One thing that is hard to get accustomed to is our real ability to "come back" when we are behind. Whatever we want to say about the "good ol' days", that just wasn't happening. Once we got behind much at all, it was very difficult to come back. That has been refreshing this year--to see us use the entire team and make it happen.

Can't wait to see him playing as a redshirt freshman across from Kenny Bell and Jamaal Turner!!

No.

Westerkamp please.
No.

Whoever wins the job, please.
While I don't dispute that this is how positions have to be handled, I stand by my statement by saying that I full heartedly believe Westerkamp will lock up that position, and fast. If I recall correctly, Coach Fischer had said as of somewhere through the beginning to middle portion of the season that he had yet to drop a pass EVER in practice. To add to that, I am thrilled that we were able to reel in a player like Mr. Gladney.

That's awesome..... Steve Largent like.... Westerkamp is going to jump right into the rotation with the loss of Marlowe and Allen being hurt.

Should have Wullenwaber (Sp?) back too and Brandon Knight is a walkon to keep an eye on.

Back to Gladney, I think he is going to be awesome and sitting out a year will allow him to learn more about the offense and college ball so that when he does get in he will be more ready. Will also allow him more work with QB's to get timing and chemistry down. He will experience less frustration that way...vs guys like Paul, Turner, Arod, T-Moore etc... I am glad the coaches are having him enjoy his HS SR year. Kids are in to much of a hurry to grow up! I also think it's too long of a stretch to a real game if you end up redshirting after coming in early.

Isn't Tyler Evans playing WR, too?
