Nebraska has not been that far from second-tier P5 talent for the past couple of years. Not knocking those teams -- they often have some good players. So has Nebraska. When you get to the consistently Top 20, Top 15 teams in the country, it's another level of talent.
It's not a team bereft of talent, nor is it a team that should be 3-6. That's on a combination of coaching, acclimation period, bad luck, and injuries.
However, it is a team similar in talent level to the ho-hum '13 and '14 squads, but crucially missing a superstar playmaker in AA on offense -- and one of the few impact players it had in RG4 on defense. The WRs have been decent; thank goodness, despite losing KB and also a healthy DPE for basically, the season.
It's a team that has not had the depth to deal with all the injuries and suspensions it has incurred. That's the most difficult thing to understand about this discussion. Sure, you can find reasons to be unhappy about our coaches. But folks are tallying up talent level on the team either based on recruiting stars only, or completely ignoring whether that talent they are touting as even been available in our losses this year.
Ultimately, minds aren't changing here. If you aren't happy with the coaches, this is a talented team that they, and not the previous staff who has been more responsible for said talent's development so far, are squandering. If you want to give the coaches a chance, you understand that managing a roster, recruiting to fill it, and developing/adjusting players is a process that can take time.
