Solich worshipers are not True Husker fans

I know it's a tired subject, but until the kool-aid drinkers stop trashing Solich and hold their god Callahan accountable for his record, the issue won't die.
Same tired crap that formerfan would spout. If you don't agree with me, then you are a kool-aid drinking sheep. I think the proof was on the field last year. NU played 4 top ten teams and didn't get their doors blown off in any of those games. Didn't win them, but didn't get slaughtered. If this year, some wins over top ten opponents don't come, then it may get interesting around here, but there has been a steady improvement. Solich did the best he knew how, but he is gone now. I think we can all agree that it is time to move forward.

:yeah

Do you suggest that we fire BC right now and get a new coach in here and start rebuilding all over again. What about the recruits that we will be trying to get over the next few years. I am sure we will get a lot of the great players with the stability of a row boat in a huricane.
BC has brought a new mentality into Lincoln when it comes to coaches. With many of them jumping ship for places that are not of the traditons and stature that NU is, I would not refer to them as "stable."

We have had some major improvements in recruiting and for you to deny that than you are living in another world.
On paper, yes, but how has that translated to the field, losing more closely? In Franks worst year he almost beat Texas, and he never got embarassed by KU or a mid-major like Texas Tech. Besides, if Callahan can even get these kids to qualify, many are never here to contribute. Look at how the class which included Suh, Lucky, Beck, an Tomerlin has fared. I wouldn't call that "major improvement."

For your information I don't drink Kool-Aid unless it is mixed with something a little stronger. I was not happy with the way FS was let go and I for one believed he should have had some more time with his rebuilt staff. It didn't happen and there is nothing you or anyone else can do about it.

Now with that being said I am not going to bury my head in the sand and mope around whining like a little b!^@h because Frank is gone. He is gone and will not be back. Do you suggest that we fire BC right now and get a new coach in here and start rebuilding all over again. What about the recruits that we will be trying to get over the next few years. I am sure we will get a lot of the great players with the stability of a row boat in a huricane.

Since you seem to know exactly what this team needs and does not need why don't you bless us with your knowledge and tell us how to get back to the top faster than we are. I am sure that BC would love to have your coaching, and recruiting ability on his sideline with him.

I do not consider BC a GOD, I do think that BC should be given the same amount of time that Frank got, don't you. We have had some major improvements in recruiting and for you to deny that than you are living in another world. It is to bad they did not ask for your input before making a decision.

Now you can call me a Kool-aid drinker if you want to but you need to realize that we have BC for the next few years and longer if we are lucky and I for one do think that he will get us back to respectability and among the elite. Look at what we as fans almost did to TO when he couldn't beat ou. He damn near went to sCUm beacause of the pressure put on him and his staff. Hell he was winning 9 games a year and we still almost ran him off.

But then again since you are going to volunteer your services to BC we should expect a National Championship this year when he steps aside and lets you run the show.
Are you even reading what I am typing in my posts? Perhaps I should present them in a different manner so the rest of you can read and comprehend them.

I AM NOT PISSED THAT FRANK IS GONE.

I AM NOT PISSED THAT CALLAHAN IS HERE.

I AM PISSED THAT SOMEONE WHO GAVE EVERYTHING HE HAD TO THE PROGRAM FOR 20 YEARS IS GETTING PISSED ON BY A CERTAIN GROUP OF FANS AND THAT THE ATHLETIC DEPT NOT ONLY CONDONES IT, THEY PROMOTE IT.

you talking about the 3 losses with a combined score NU 40 KSU/MU/UT 110
You mean the KSU team that DESTROYED Oklahoma (a team that was being talked about as one of the best ever) 35-7 in the 2003 Big XII title game? Yeah, it sure was embarrassing to lose to them. As far as @MU and the UT game, how well has your hero Callahan done vs those two teams? Oh and don't forget our 70-10 loss to Texas Tech in 2004. That wasn't embarrassing, was it? Oh wait, it's Franks fault.

Dont get me wrong, Solich was a fine assistant coach and did alot of good things for NU, however he was not a head coach and let recruiting slide under his watch.
Perhaps, but he may have been able to improve that with his new staff had he actually been given a "fair chance". Nevertheless, Callahan is in his fourth year now and the recruiting excuse is wearing pretty thin.

If SP wanted to "smear" Solich, he could have brought the on going affair that Solich was having, or perhaps the rumor's of him fathering a child with someone other than his wife, or even his drinking while at NU.

So if you want to say that SP smear campaign was poor recruiting alone, then so be it, but it could have been a whole lot worse
Since you brought it up, that rumor is actually true. I'm not saying he was a saint, and let thee who is without sin cast the first stones. I just think he deserves a little more respect than being called names such as "The Rat" and "The Midget".

Let me be clear about one thing, my anger is being directed to a certain group of so-called "True Husker Fans". They know who they are, and the member who started this thread is one of them. Honestly, I don't see how anyone could disagree that trashing a former coach is classless, and not what Nebraska Football is all about.

all of the losses in 2004 have to be atributed to players recruited for an option offense trying to run the WC offense. Callahan should have adapted and ran an offense to the strengths of his players, but chose not to. would that have changed anything? maybe some of the losses would have been closer and maybe a couple might have been turned into wins.

the 70-10 loss to TT was simply getting down early and shell shocked players just giving up IMO.

you have never seen me refer to Solich as "the Rat" or "the Midget", I have however referred to his drinking and being found slumped over his steering wheel on a one way street facing the wrong way

I think it is unnecessary as well. It is often provoked by trashing the current coach and how his record doesn't stack up to the former coach. That is what usually starts the trash talk. Both sides are guilty of this.

How about booing Jammal Lord during his playing career or booing Scott Frost or calling for TO and McBrides heads or cursing at Coz and Callahan while in the stands or booing Joe Dailey and yes during the awesome KSU game cursing Solich and Pelini. Is this what Nebraska Football is all about? I'm sure you have been around long enough to realize that Husker fans aren't as wonderful as most make them out to be.

Some could also say NU football is all about beating women, heavy drinking, robbing stores, stealing wallets, gang banging, steriod use, cocaine abuse, cheating on your wife, etc..........

I love NU football but it has a pretty shady past.

Anyway back to the topic. I loved Solich while he was here and I love Callahan now. You know why? Because they coach(ed) my favorite football team. I would be happy if Frankie was still around but he is not and I'm happy that Billy C. is here now. Maybe Frankie and the band aids would have been able to turn the thing around but we will never know. So I say jump on board and enjoy the up coming season becaue sitting around complaining about things that NONE OF UShave any control over is lame.

Nice post

This Solich vs. Callahan thing has gotten out of control. There is a small, vocal minority of Solich worshipers who apparently wish Solich was still out coach. Face it, Frank is gone and he is never coming back. Bill Callahan is our coach now. And he’s here to stay.

This leads me to ask the question of this thread: Can someone continue to support Frank Solich over Bill Callahan and still be a true Husker fan—that is, want what’s best for NU? I say "NO", so all you Solichistas put on your green leotards and get the hell out of Nebraska! :steam
Let's get one thing straight, I DO NOT wish that Solich was still our coach. What gripes my hide is the smear campaign launched on him by one Mr. Steve Pedersen to cover his own a$$ after the 2004 season, and that it is perpetuated by your circle-jerk over at BRB.
What did Steve Pedersen do to launch a smear campaign against Solich? The worst thing I can remember SP saying is that the coaching change was needed because the program was spiraling towards mediocrity. Was there something worse that I missed? Did he go on record with some derogatory quotes? If so, I would like to see them.

I as well am really sick and tired of seeing this same old bullsh#t going on here with these threads that compare Solich to Callahan or Solich was better.........blah blah blah. Get the f#*k over it!!!! He's gone for a good damn reason and I for one am glad he is and I am going to support Cally and everything he does for our team. We are much better now than we would have been had we stayed with Solich!!! GET OVER IT!!! :madash :madash :madash
This hits the nail on the head, BIGREDIOWAN. I agree 100%.

But the point of my thread is not to bash Solich or prove that Callahan is a better coach. My question is:

Can a “fan” who continues to support Frank Solich over Bill Callahan really be a true Husker fan and want what's best for our program?

These people who wear green on gamedays, are they really supporting the Huskers? Hell no they are not. They are just troublemaking a$$hole$ trying to draw attention to themselves. Same with the folks on message boards who continually bash BC and SP, and yearn for the days of Solich and Byrne. HuskerNCo said it best:

I as well am so f'ing sick of the Solich/Callahan crap. For god sake, it has been 4 years, count em, 4 years...I'm one of the few in the minority that thinks that if God Almighty Osborne didn't hand pick his shortness, we wouldn't even be having this conversation, still. Jesus H Christ, get the f over it already. Coach Callahan will do great things here if only the 'good' people of NE give him a freaking chance.

Change is not always a bad thing my friends.

I remember suggesting that Osborne was partly to blame for the slide nearly 3 years ago and you would have thought that I kicked 100 people's grandpas in the teeth.
