Tangent Thread - P&R Edition

You can't make that blanket assertion.  My 'joke' was only meant for clinton. She is a target from both men and women and deserving so - but when I think Clinton I think of Bill as well.  I have said worse things about Trump.  And they are specific to Trump and not all men or all GOPers.  My favorite in the Dem field was Senator Amy K.  She's a woman.  I surely honor or as such but I liked her not because of her womanhood but because of her positions and likability.

Not to belabor this topic, but I gotta say, I'm with Moiraine on this one. Everything you are saying right here is perfectly valid, and I get that your original comment was an attempt at a joke. But it was a bit of a misogynistic joke. You were attacking someone based on their femininity, or your perception of her femininity anyway.

Sometimes people make offensive comments without thinking it all the way through. It doesn't mean you are a bad guy or that it was the most offensive thing in the world, but it was in the ballpark of other sexist quips that many of us unwittingly make from time to time. Moiraine was simply bringing it to your attention.

Guys get it too...

I know. As far as I know people haven't called Trump a pu&&y in that forum but I could be wrong. And that annoys me more than the other. It's usually guys who refer to women as men and it's usually guys who call other guys pussies. Y'all should stop that.

TGHusker, believe it or not I don't believe it was your intent to be sexist and I don't think you're sexist. There's a reason I replied to you and not to teach.

Is it okay to make fun of the way Trump looks?  Yes or no?  I say yes.

Can you stop calling us dicks, pricks, and asses?

I’m unsure if that has explicitly been said, but there have been been a number of times where people have said some pretty bad things or gone a little too far in regards to Trump. Making Chimichangas was ultimately banned for their inability to have a civilized conversation regarding Trump in P&R.

Some things said in P&R about certain politicians/policies have occasionally been too far below the belt; things probably better left for the Shed or entirely unsaid. They typically serve as a hindrance to conversation more than a benefit. The biggest challenge is usually policing them because they often go unreported, particularly if it’s about or related to Trump.

MC was often making personal attacks against other users when she was arguing with them about Trump. I remember that clearly. It wasn't merely about Trump.

As I said, I don't recall anyone ever calling Trump a pu&&y. I think people should be able to call him or Clinton a$$h@!es if they want or make fun of their clothes or their orange make up or their pants suits. I think there should be a line drawn when it's not as specific to them, which I'm sure I've probably been guilty of that with Trump, and possibly also with Clinton. I still don't know why someone is calling Clinton a man/using that as a diss.

Yes, and it's okay to make fun of the way Clinton looks, imo.

I would guess men use the first 2 more often than women. Especially prick, I've never actually heard a woman use that word. Women possibly call people a$$h@!es more often.

And I think Clinton looks like a dude.  I used to think Jon Bon Jovi looked like a girl.  And pretty much the entire band Poison (my first concert!!!) .

And I think prick is used a lot in England...I don't know if it gets used as much here.  Like the C-word...which might be the most "gasp" word in the states but in England you might as well just be saying "dork".

Are you stereotyping two whole genders here? The furry loving transvestites feel left out.

I'm talking about which gender I think uses a word more often. That's not what stereotyping is. I was doing that when I said "y'all should stop" but that was said jokingly.
