The doomsday scenario is built in the guidelines by which they can point to one and then shut the whole thing down. I doubt the NCAA will cancel the season; but the overwhelming pressure of an outraged media in the event of a tragic situation to a student-athlete will doom the season. I predict it will be one of those sobering moments that will cause the season to end.

It's a bad situation - parents and students don't want to pay the same fare for online classes but it's a fiscal apocalypse for most colleges and universities to charge less. In many circumstances, it's no easier (and often harder) to teach content via Zoom... especially if that's not how the course was designed at the outset.

I hope your daughter's semester goes as well as it can.

Check out “Guild Education” and their corporate partners. Public education won’t be free because it will severely hurt the armed services - that’s one big draw. Corporate education is going to be big and there will be programs and partnerships where corporations are going be influencing education even more so where the employees they send to school for free will come out with the training specifically for their organization.

If by "piss on our parade" you mean provide some actual leadership and at least some semblance of a plan to help minimize the health and economic damages from Covid, then yeah, he may piss on your parade.

The surest fire way we would've/could've had an interrupted football season was pissed away by Trump and his administration of science denying sycophants. If you're looking to blame those actually responsible......however that does not appear to be the case since we're currently smack dab in the middle of what Trump's policies have wrought and yet you're anxiously awaiting to blame a guy that hasn't had a thing to do with it and won't until next January at the earliest.

I'm curious on others thoughts on this board....if Covid-19 was killing kids at the rate of older citizens - would you then be mad that Trump calls this the Chinese Virus? I truly believe we would already be in a World War with them if that was the case and way more people would be on board. 

No, I am not saying he is right for saying this at this time or we should be at war - I just feel since it isn't kids then people kind of let a lot of things slide.

Is it deadlier than the flu though? If you had no flu vaccine how many more would it kill? Also coronavirus is lingering around longer so it has a chance to kill more due to longevity. The reason everyone accepts the flu is because we all know it has always been around, we know there is no cure so we accept it because we can’t change it. Coronavirus is new, if the day comes we have a vaccine and it comes back every year like the flu- like some believe it may be here to stay. 10 years from now we will become numb to it just like the flu and accept it

What has China lied about exactly? Wet markets aren't something to start a war over, and if you've been paying attention, COVID did not originate at the Wuhan wet market. To be frank, the devastation the US has suffered is a direct result of US leadership, nothing more nothing less. To start a war because of your own incompetence would be the definition of stupid.

I dont think anyone is saying the flu is no big deal, but this is magnitudes worse than the worst flu season(2018 is one of the worst in recent history) so conflating the two is irresponsible imo. Its funny because people ask me, well this many people die from the flu, if we care about flu deaths wouldn't we wear masks for that? My answer is always maybe we should. 

Don't many Asian countries regularly wear masks - partially due to the flu (and probably also due to smog/pollution)? 

A useful comparison might be to look at deaths/million in places like Japan/China from the flu (where masking is more consistent) for, say the past 10 years, vs the U.S.
