Tangent Thread - P&R Edition

Not at all. Part of it from some groups is that college football just isn’t important there, it’s cultural. Part is fear for other groups. Nebraska was vilified for saying they wanted to play in the big which is a split culturally.

The ultra liberal west coast press isn’t going to do that x100 to anyone that would stand up and say they wanted to play?

You do realize it wasn't the ultra liberal or west coast press that vilified Nebraska, right? It was ESPN and sports journalists.

Thats the culture of that political structure. Brow beat you, call you racist, call you greedy, tell you that you dont care about peoples lives to control you out of fear. If you dont share the same thought process you are a hateful bigot.

Locking them wouldn't stop the conversation, though. It'd just move it to different threads.

Well, that's a part of the moderation process though; if it moves to another thread, you take care of that thread, too. It's blocked up the football forum from any sort of relevant discussion or topics, and completely made the point of the posting minimums and requirements for P&R null and void.

I literally posted these sources this morning, less than a dozen posts before yours.

But since you think CNN is gaslighting you, try these sources:

The Portland Fire Department - direct quotes

The Portland Police Department - direct quotes and maps

Good enough, or do you need more?
You don’t need to lecture me about what’s going on on the west coast. I used to live in Seattle, I have about 40 blood relatives living there now. I get first hand reports all the time.
Was supposed to go there like I do every year but passed, hate to see my former home being torn apart and have to stay away from places I usually go to.

portland I have 5 relatives there, very well informed.

i used to live and work in California, several of my dearest friends in the Bay Area. They have been very consistent about how they are doing and what’s going on. My best so cal buddy moved to ft worth a few months back, he couldn’t handle it anymore.

They are very concerned to say the least, several are looking at moving here in fact.

no their entire cities aren’t burning every night. But the arson, looting, murders and violence is leading to crushing economic ramifications that are going to get far worse before they get better.

and at the end of the day, no police department, even those with all mr Rogers cops is going to be perfect with millions of interactions every year. It’s inevitable in some of those life or death  interactions a fallible cop is going to make a mistake. Last year 8 unarmed black men were shot dead by a cop. If that goes to 4 there will still be arson and riots there guaranteed. Interestingly enough there were 32 of those deaths in Obama’s last year in office, but the problem is worse now I guess the new math.

Well I have 10 relatives in portland and 50 blood relatives in Seattle and I used to live both Seattle and Portland and two of my buddies loved it so much they moved there from ft worth, and my sources say stuff against your stance and in support of mine.

The internet is fun.

Maybe they all work for the liberal press and they're in on covering up the fiendish hellscape that is the entire left coast.

BUSTED!!!!

Couldn't handle what? I have family in Tuscan, Phoenix, Dallas, the Bay - I live here in Nebraska. I've talk to everyone on the regular, I've been to all those places many times. Guess what, the people in Santa Clara aren't so different from the people in Dallas. The people in Phoenix aren't so different from the people in San Jose. The people in Omaha aren't so different than the people in Tuscan. They work, their kids go to school, they go to farmers markets on Saturdays and pack Sports Bars on Sundays. They walk their dogs through their neighborhoods and eat and drink at neighborhood dive bars. Stop buying into the divisive Bulls#!t.

I have tons of family in the Bay, they're fine. There is some unrest in the city but you make it sound like its a war zone. "Lots of people struggling to survive and chaos reigning", put down the fear porn brotha.

I live in the Bay Area and there's zero chaos. Even with legitimate wildfires.

And I have friends in Portland who are going about their lives with little to no disruption. They can't believe the scheduled confrontations involving a couple square blocks are being sold as chaos. Los Angeles is still busy looking at itself in the mirror. It is inflamed only by the loss of production jobs. Oakland is a helluva lot calmer than it could or should be.

But yes, people are struggling to survive. That's due to new and longstanding crises that the administration is keen to ignore. Radical Leftist and Colored People Chaos is the perfect distraction.

It's funny how many stories from the Bible and American history involve angry uprisings against the ruling class, and how many patriots and Christians now identify with the oppressors.

So...once again. Trump does something that he thinks is so bigly and grand that the world has never seen......only to accomplish nothing other than stroking his own ego.

@HuskerNation1's post is in the Shed so far as I can see. There isn't a post history tool to say when it got there, though.  :dunno  I thought we cleared most of that stuff out but it is always possible for things to slip through the cracks, particularly when dozens and dozens of posts are having to be moved.

Complaining about it in the Shed doesn't really do anything unless one is simply looking for a cathartic release. If his post was accidentally left behind, and nobody used the reporting function on it (which, so far I can see, they haven't), it's unlikely we would go trolling back through that monstrosity of a thread to randomly find it.

HuskerNation1's long political post was embedded in my post, whose sole intent was to flag it (and yes, mock it.)  As of yesterday around noon PST, his post was still in the football forum while mine was in the woodshed. I don't want or expect you to do a lot of trolling and digging, but those posts were literally linked together. I sent you a genial PM about my Warning, but never heard back.

As you know, I don't really mind if the flow of conversation veers off-topic, or in the case of Will There Be a 2020 Football Season? gets political as the subject demands. Not big on deletions or bannings either. So I prefer not to use the Report function, even if to prove how many political posts remain on the football threads.

If my years in prison taught me anything it's that snitches get stitches. I'd rather settle my own hash in public.

I apologize if it is was left. Likely just an error in the process of removing the dozens of posts that were pulled on that day. I don't have any excuse for the error other than it happens.

And I know/understand your perspective. I believe you have shared it a few times in recent years. Unfortunately, your view on the reporting tool and overall board moderation is at a fundamental contradiction to how the board operates and is moderated. Here, snitches don't get stitches, we rely on the reporting tool to moderate, and we issue bans or suspensions when people feel like acting a fool.

There are plenty of other places for people to express themselves more colorfully and without any real consequences. Huskerboard has chosen not to be one of those.

The players aren’t

The fans arent

The parents arent

The ads, presidents and coaches arent

Because they would be crucified by the press there

That footprint is just significantly different from those who are playing. Their silence is deafening
I mean, NU got crucified for taking a stand.
