The 2024 Election —What did we learn?

Yeah.  I'm very interested in what this looks like long term.  It's one of two things:

1) The vast majority are so excited because Trump won and think the economy is now going to boom.

or,

2) Everyone is just glad the election is over and just want to get back to normal and back to investing.
It’s probably both actually

Always appreciated the political discourse on this site. Had a family member reach out worried about a 2nd Trump term. This is what I told them (I’m no expert). Trump is 78, I doubt he wants to grind away the next 4 years. President was the best path to get lawsuits dropped, money in his pocket and for him to golf care free at Mar-a-lago. We will see as much of him as we did Biden. Alignment behind Trump will be tough, a lot of neocons in his inner circle - the anti neocon movement doesn’t seem like a sure thing. With Trump off golfing will everyone fall in line being Vance? I could see a ton of infighting and jostling for position like we saw when the Rs held the house. If that happens it could lead to not a whole lot before 2026 and the Rs having the incumbent curse going into midterms.

i learned that a very good portion of america is fine with a corrupt president.
A good portion of America doesn't really care about a lot of things when they perceive (rightly or wrongly) their personal lives and financial situations are trending in the wrong direction.

The average voter isn't using logic to sway their vote - they're using emotion and their lived experience. It's something that Democrats clearly failed to understand at a wide enough scale this election cycle and I think all the post-election belly-aching coming from much of the left is continuing to reinforce that.

You're talking about a tiny slice of the country. The Washington DC population is twice the size of the Lincoln, NE metro population. A statistically insignificant amount of America.

What does this chart even show? What is the source of this chart?

"The Left pushed too far too fast."  I find this an interesting sentiment.  It's not that their core beliefs are terrible, it's that the American people just weren't ready for how radicalized these beliefs are.

Men who feel like they are a woman - go change in the locker room with the girls and then set a meet record in the 200m Backstroke.  Smut books in an elementary library - game on.  Little Timmy certainly needs to know how to sexually arouse a peer of his.  Let the border be a complete pass through for millions, illegally, and then only backtrack when it's time to garner a vote.   Just be sure to contrive where conservatives are breaking the law to deflect from your own lawlessness on the matter.

On the subject of Christians.  I find it also interesting how a person stating that Jesus has transformed his/her life also supports abortion.  Life starts at conception, but because Alpha Sigma Sigma sorority chaplain Jenny can't control her sex drive, she's knocked up and has the kid dismembered in her womb.  These same "Christians" also believe God is on a roll of creating people the incorrect gender.  The Potter just can't get it right, but the clay will fix His mistakes by picking the gender they feel is best.  And when in prison, they get the treatment on the tax payers dime!  To the praise of His glory...

The lunacy and deviancy..."Americans weren't ready for it."  But, with how progressivism works, it'll be reintroduced in a different cup of poison for the masses to drink.
It is not "radical" to be for abortion.  It is correct, it is the only way to look at the topic.

I learned that Nevada and Arizona cannot count ballots efficiently. It's like the early 1900s.
I have money pending on the Nevada count!  COME ON!!!!!

I was pretty calm the first 24 hours. But I don’t think there will be a transition of power the next time a Democrat wins the presidential election. There just isn’t any way they haven’t found military leaders they can install who will accept any order.
That just isn’t going to happen. I think you can step back from that ledge.

They may install the correct people and may even attempt it (doubtful) but there are just too many in the military that would not blindly follow those orders. If all else fails, it will be a bit of irony that the repubs, who pushed so hard for the right to keep and bear arms, will be undone by it. There’s like one reason I have an AR and civil unrest is it. Personally I don’t think it will ever come to that but it is pretty much doomed if it does.

I think you are really over-estimating the military. They are still just human beings like the rest of us and have all the same failings.

That is precisely why I feel the way I do. If a coup was attempted, the military would be split very similar to the rest of the country. As a whole it may lean more to the right but even some of those righties actually believe and would honor the oath they’ve taken (unlike Trump).
