The Offending Posts Commentary Thread

I think Ric often gets too much credit for his behavior. He would regularly PM about different concerns but insist I not issue any sort of punishment.

He was either a masterful troll or a tad unhinged. I'd be far more inclined to believe the latter based on the interactions I had with him in public and in private.

Could be...but I would rank him right up there with the best I have ever seen at his craft.  I actually would even argue that the use of PM's is another piece of his puzzle.

Or maybe he was just insane and is currently telling some person to rub lotion on his/her skin while that person is stuck in a well in his basement.

He was a poor man's "masterful troll." For those of us who know who and what he is, he was neither masterful nor unhinged. Just predictable and boring. His attempts at trollery fell apart too easily.  It felt like playing Go Fish with your sister's kids. You know what's coming next but you play along anyway because it's something different than what you do every day.

And his "PM Game" was just awful. He would claim to have this amazing dirt on the libs but it was nothing a child couldn't dream up. And when I told him so, he got all balled up and said something to me that would have warranted a warning.  Sad.

I'd imagine that was just so he could virtue signal and feel morally superior and righteous compared to the libtard cucks who reported him and wanted him banned because they hate free speech and voices of reason in their echo chamber bubble board.

That was certainly a big part of it.

I don't know. I just don't think he really deserves much credit. It was pretty clear what his intentions and tactics were, but they often times were similar to what other people were doing or saying to him, and policing that kind of behavior is difficult. Fortunately, I always felt it was a matter of time until he stepped over the line again, and I was not disappointed.

I have a friend who I've been trying to convince to come over here from Sherdog to post his thoughts in P&R.  He's well spoken, intelligent and abides by board rules like not trolling or cursing or racism or bigotry etc.  He is a staunch Republican.  I want this because I want to see someone who I know can behave tread the waters to see if he gets the Ric Flair treatment or if he is accepted for his opposing view.

I hope Vegas isn't your intelligent friend, because he just posted the same stupid s#!t Obama-haters (which is what this poster says he is) have been saying for like 10 years now. I guess he could claim that loads of other presidents have abused their power in the same way if he wanted, because that's what he'd have to do for his post to makes sense since Obama didn't even sign close to the most executive orders. If this isn't your friend it's a sock, since all the posts are in the politics forum.

If I remember correctIy I can recall Obama saying "I have a pen and a phone" because he couldnt pass legislation through Congress. And he did just that, he signed executive order after executive order bypassing Congress and abusing the power that our founding fathers didn't invision.

His account was created when Flair disappeared for awhile, then only really began posting after his ban. Weird isn't it?

I think we've all done that, at least those of us with open minds.  I started in P&R a staunch Christian, mostly conservative, defending George W. Bush a little bit. Discussion is good for the soul.

It'd be funny if I ended up back on the conservative side at some point.

Everyone is disagreed with in P&R. Nobody is sacred, and the things I agree with you on don't protect me from your opinions on things we disagree on. And vice-versa.  And that goes for pretty much all the regulars in that forum.  I don't even know what "the Ric Flair treatment" means, unless it's everyone in the thread disagreeing with you, and if that's the case, who hasn't had that happen to them? :D I know I've had some pretty vociferous disagreements with you, Moiraine, BRB,
That's my favorite part of the P&R section. Lots of people on here  from all walks of life, and many have a different perspective on life than i do , but they are also well spoken, well versed on the issues, and generally make their point in a respectful manner. I'll admit I've posted some stuff that i regretted later, and got roasted for it, but we live and learn. I'm always looking to learn new things and see life in a different way, and this board is great for that. I've learned a lot.

@Ziebol's post in the offending posts thread earned one of every reaction emoji. That doesn't happen very often.

I did give him the trophy to complete the set, full disclosure.

Mod(s)...Please provide clarification on why commando's reply post about how to properly display the US Flag was moved to the offending posts thread. Is it because the original pic had the word "bullsh#t" in it? But I didn't see the op post in there....

That whole flag conversation is in there. That thread is weird anyway because when I click to go to the new post it takes me to a random page. But if you go back a page from commando's post you can see the original post

Honestly, when someone breaks a board rule by posting a photo like that, and multiple people respond to it, I don't bother with trying to parse out what is or isn't really that relevant. I just move the whole conversation as it relates to the offending post.

The conversation itself wasn't relevant to the thread either, IMO. So, while I could parse it out and put parts of in a tangent thread or parts of it in Offending Posts, it's easier to just keep it all grouped.

Also, it doesn't make sense to move the photo but leave responses that show the photo. The violation is still obvious and visible.
