(Flat earthers are actually a great example of the dynamic between truths and facts. They believe it to be true that world is flat, and they try to use cherry-picked facts and observations to support that. However, empirically speaking, we know the earth is round.)

Nobody said it was theoretical at the time though in day to day conversations though did they, everyone mostly agreed that Flat was fact.  Except for the few who didn't, ergo new facts come to light.

Them being ignorant to science and the definition of empirical facts doesn't make it any less theoretical or conceptual, even if they were personally convinced it was flat.

Some ancient civilizations knew the earth was round 2,000 years ago and proved it through mathematics and astronomy. Some pirates 400 years ago were afraid to sail too far for fear of 'falling off the earth.' Those are two truths. But, facts do not change. Our interpretation and understanding of those facts is what changes.

What I've discovered after a brief journey down the Google hole is that reading about fact and truth and opinion and true and false will give a guy a headache. Heck, facts aren't even necessarily what I thought they were. A fact can be proven true or false. So, while a fact may never change our ability to prove them true or false can change.  And truth.....well that is just some hippy construct based on feelings, beliefs and opinions.

I'm not sure if I know that I actually exist anymore.... :lol:

Some ancient civilizations knew the earth was round 2,000 years ago.- Fact

Some pirates 400 years ago were afraid to sail too far for fear of falling off the earth.- Fact

Morbid curiosity has me planning a theater visit.  How they can do a flat out sequel means this could be epic or a total dumpster fire.
