Were you having a bad day @Enhance?  Our local dips#!t Russian propagandist makes an inflammatory post about pardoning a murderer and I ask him if it was sarcasm or a failed attempt at humor or if he’s just a POS and I get suspended?  Thin skinned bulls#!t if ya ask me. And it was a question. It was not me straight up calling him a POS. I don’t care how you chose to take it. He absolutely could’ve explained his post. But yeah, if he actually thinks a cold blooded murderer should be pardoned days after the event, then yes, he’s a POS. It should be embarrassing that you chose to side with his whiny a$$.

It was probably worthy of a suspension but 2 weeks is ludicrous especially considering what Apsu gets away with.

I get that it could’ve been taken wrong but it seriously was a question from my end. What he posted was so insane I thought there was a very good chance it was sarcasm or failed humor or some other illogical apsu reason. But if it wasn’t posted for one of those reasons, I’ll stand by the idea that the person proposing it is indeed a POS. However the intent was not to call him a POS in the regular forum. If that was my intent, I absolutely would’ve done it here in the shed. Unfortunately somebody’s panties were in a bunch that day and felt compelled to use it to make a point.

If those are the type of posts and posters the board wants to coddle and placate, then maybe my days here are numbered. I’ve probably been posting here too long as is. And particularly lately it seems the quality of conversation has nosedived. Not a lot of good or reasonable takes to be found outside a very limited number of posters.

To be fair, I can't think of a time you got a warning and didn't complain in the Shed about it, in part I think to muster troops to your cause. (A pedant would say something about glass houses here.)

And then I stupidly take the bait and try to rationally explain to you that you broke a rule (which you did), that you know better (which you do) and that your record is against you (which it is). Hence why the messaging in your warning shared appreciation for your contributions to the board but explicitly said the suspension was because of this post and the broader history of similar incidents.

Eh, that's a weak defense. Something like "Are you an idiot?" vs. "You're an idiot." The messaging/implication is obvious.

You can throw insults my way too if it makes you feel better, accuse me of being thin-skinned or whatever else floats your boat. But, it is ironic to criticize the quality of conversation around here when you directly contribute to the degeneracy. The fact you think I'm defending him for telling you to follow the rules is ludicrous, especially since he's enjoying his own vacation at the moment.

Eh, we have differing opinions on the seriousness of the infraction and you get the final say. It is what it is.

And to set the record straight, there have been a few times where it was deserved and I acknowledged it with no or very little complaining in the shed.

Also, I am not insulting you. Saying someone was being thin skinned is not an insult imo, it’s just a description of what transpired. I think it was an overly sensitive take, you didn’t/don’t. Once again I lose and right or wrong, you’re right.

You won’t have to be concerned with me douching up the regular forum by responding to Apsu. He can post all the insane bulls#!t he wants to with no more pushback from me. He’s somebody else’s problem.

 
I think "thin-skinned" is an insult, and I use it myself when I think someone is being too thin-skinned. 

But I'd still put it a tick below "you're being too stubborn/hypocritical/incoherent/disingenuous/willfully ignorant." which also get freely bandied about. 

This is my semi-annual vote for a little more self-policing, a. little less suspending.

I suppose it’s dependent on what a person is used to. I’ve spent a lot of time on construction sites and in rougher talking jobs. I mean a typical question around here is along the lines of “Are you f#&%ing stupid?” The response might be “f#&% you”, and neither party takes offense.  Now my wife is more thin-skinned or more sensitive to that type of thing than me. I personally don’t view it as an insult but rather that person just isn’t as used to or accepting of that direct of a message. I could be the outlier here. I probably wouldn’t fare well in a typical office setting job.

But now my real question. I tried to take the edge off in my response to Apsu by giving him the benefit of the doubt. What he posted was ludicrous and I figured he was likely using pardoning a cowardly murderer as a way to whine a bit more about Biden pardoning his son. Would it have been any better or different if I had simply said “anybody that actually believes this is a POS”? That is exactly what I meant and believe. Or should I have to coddle the dips#!t because being blunt and honest is too mean?

Is it my barometer that needs to adjust for what is acceptable to post? It may very well be  :dunno
